Todays detail for Bryan and I was Swifty's (Criag's) new car - a jasper green Auid S8, which arrived already looking pretty good...

But in the sunlight the dreaded swilrs were there and there was a milky effect to the aluminium trim letting the side down a bit. So onto work...
First of all, Bryan foamed the car using Autobrite Snowfoam through a Serious Performance lance (designed for use direct onto a hose):

The foam produced was ow the shaving foam yu get from pressure washer lancesm but a decent runnyfoam that did a good job of cleaning away the general surface grime pre-wash. Wheels were cleaned with Chemical Guys Blue Rim Cleaner, arches were cleaned with Meguiars APC and dressed with Meguiars All Seasons Dressing.
The paintwork was clayed uisng new clays that I got to try out from Tim at CleanYourCar... A mild yello clay that had a very elastic feel and was very easy to use and highly effective at removing bonded contaminants on this car, and remained pliant and easy to use. Also a white cvlay that reminded me a lot of Megs QuikClay in texture and preformance which is no bad thing. Meguiars Last Touch was used as a lube.
Onto the machine polishing stages and this colour was difficult to highlight the swilrs that were there on in the pics, but there were moderate swilrs and a lot of deeper scratches across the paintwork...

After trialling various combos, ther paint was found to be typically Audi: hard! Menzerna Power Gloss on a Meguiars W7006 cutting pad was used on most areas (some thinner areas of pain received only the IP so as not to risk making the clearcoat too thin) - spread at 600rpm, two or three passes at 1200rpm, about eight passes at 2000rpm, then two passes at 1500rpm did the trick on this paint and finished down LSP ready as well. Some deeper marring still remained (correction of the RDS at about 90%), but the paint thickness did not allow a further hit with POwer Gloss so I used Menzerna PO85RD3.01 Intensive Polisyh as my "finishing polish". This would finsih down crystal sharp LSP ready while also having a noticeable cut to improve further the appearance of the RDSs without getting too aggressive for a second time: thus allowing me to get the maximum correction that in my eyes was safe.
Resuults of the polishing process:

Before and after in the sunlight:

On this light colour, the LSP of choice ws Zymol Glasur ontop of paint prepped with Zymol HD Cleanse for the liquid gloss that it delivers t paintwork. HDC applied by hand using foam applicator and followed with Glasur applied directly by hand.
As mentioned at the start, the aluminium areas were letting the side down a little with a tarnished milky look:

Briliant #1 Metal Restorer did a grand job of restoring some lustre to these areas, applied by hand:

The Briliant polishes were also used on the tailpipe:
Before:

After:

Wheels were sealed with Smartwax Rim Wax, tyres with Meguiars Enduance Gel. All plastics and rubbers received Meguiars All Seasons dressingm glass was cleaned with Zymol HDC. Then it was time for a fianl wipe down with Zymol Field Glaze and then roll the car out into the daylight for some completed pics. I was particularly impressed with he liquid gloss look the Glasur delivered to the light coilour of paint, the wax really seeming in the flesh to be getting the best out of the colour:

And just for fun to round off, some atry pics:

Many thanks to Craig again for coming through with this lovely car :thumb:
