AU1 Tickford XR6 refinish

SVR

Dream Machines
This is my current AU falcon. The replacement for the forte that was written off (not my fault:mad: )

I have CM clayed it, followed with many prep steps (about 9) including VM, Menzerna and have sealed with AIO x 1 and SG x 4

Have UPP X 3 to go yet

All done by hand since my rotary pads are stuffed and can't afford to get any more at the moment with buying new products including sonus.

Compared to the awesome work some of you guys here do with a PC or rotary, it ain't much but is about 85-90% swirl free and what is there are bloody fine and I am wrapped with the depth and gloss so far. Incredibly slick too

Will post some full size pics of the whole car very soon, even in full sunlight there is no haze, holograms, spiderwebbing, scratches or bad swirls.

A couple extremely minor ones I couldn't get out, would need a rotary for that.

I used PB SSR 3, 2.5 X 2, 2.0, Meg's #9, Menzerna FP, Dinitrol (swedish) 7020 wet look polish (did a brilliant job) and then CK VM to finish off.

The guy that had this before me, garaged it but never detailed or protected it at all and it's come a long way.

Only done 55,000 kilometres and it's nearly six and a half years old

Rubbers are coated with WG black diamond gel

Exterior trim - klasse sg X 10

Glass - clay, autosmart GG polish, CK VM, PB SSR 1.0, PB EXP X 5 coats and counting (inside and out)

Tires - WG tire gel X 3 coats

Wheel arches - Omikron RD Black arch sealant, WG tire gel

Headlights/Taillights - Dura Glaze sealant

Instrument cluster fascia - CK VM, PB SSR 1.0, Klasse AIO, dura glaze sealant

Lots more pics soon.

i think AU stands for Australia. nice car. too bad Ford doesn't bring some of those here. oh wait, that would be a bad idea. ;)

AU1 is the model series for the Falcon. I think they started with the "XK" Falcon in the 60's and now we have the BA Falcon.

The AU Falcon wasnt that popular in Australia and caused Ford Australia alot of grief. The punters weren't happy with the styling. Cant say I have too many complaints.

AU1 = AU Ford Falcon Series 1

Click my link below to see the latest generation Falcon ( the BA ). Heaps better car IMO, I wasn't very fond of my AU.

Nice work SVR, looks great. Inspired me to get the RO out and clean mine up. It been pretty neglected for a while now with work being so hectic and all the travel over the holiday period. I'd expect some pics this weekend guys and gals! :)

To add my .02, Ford used the "AU" model designation to appeal to the Internet generation, as in "ford.com.au".

Many Ford fans were worried when Ford announced that their "recovery" model, from the AU's sales disaster, was to be designated the "BA". People were wondering if that was going to stand for "Bloody Awful".

Of course that is history and the BA Falcon is a great looking and performing car.

Well at Ford, the workers called the AU the "Awfully Ugly". For the BA, they included worker participation more at the apprasial level than they did with the AU.

I like my Barra ( nickname for the BA ) :)

The run of the mill AU's are good reliable cars but have a real cheap and nasty interior with boring grey interior

And yes are ugly looking

The tickford XR's and TE/TS 50's are the best of the lot and brilliant cars to drive and look at.

If the AU SR was the standard car, they would have sold more, they are reasonably good looking.

The BA has a superb suspension but I don't like how flat all the panels are and how heavier it is over the AU.

AU is much more aerodynamic too.

Either AU or BA, they are both great cars mechanically
