With this model car, unless you dry the underside of the hood and trunk straight after washing or ASAP after any rain, the water spots form and dry out, causing rust dots. I have been extremely thorough in this regard for years and even go to the extent of twice yearly applying Bodyseal or Magnum Top Gear Lustre Power Instant shine sealant to these areas.
Well today I had no chance as I was at work and the rain came down like mad for several hours. Now I don't mind it if it keeps raining so when I finish work I can get it home and dry the car but at around 1 PM It stopped raining and I didn't finish till 3.30. Got home and fortunately the bodyseal soaked up all the water, preventing water spots everywhere and thus the paint was like I had just finished detailing it. But on inspection of the hood etc I saw dryed up water spots. I remembered the white vinegar which fortunately I had in the house and went to work with it. This hid them but didn't remove them. I tryed my improved version of 3M GE and to no avail. I thought of CITRA FORCE di limolene based product which I dilute 1:100 for cleaning interior trim and mixed it with the white vinegar into a small spray bottle and it not only removed the spots but gave the paint a really good shine. According to the printing on the label of the 5 litre container, you can wash a car with it diluted at 1:50
I've been told about washing your car with baby oil but di limolene
