Attention FK425 lovers.

One of the many things I learned on this forum is that FK425 is generally regarded as one of the best QDs. Another thing that I learned was that Finish Kare was bought by Allbrite Car Care Products. After a little research I discovered that Allbrite is located about twenty miles from where I live. So I called them to see if they carried the Finish Kare line as well, or if any of their products were relabeled FK products. The lady told me they could get the FK products with a couple days notice. She also told me that only one of their products was indeed a relabeled Finish Kare product. That product....Allbrite Show Shine. Now for the bombshell. The price.......$16.00 a GALLON!! I have no idea what they charge for shipping as I just make a little detour when I go visit my dad.

I mentioned show shine QD awhile back here, it's great stuff imo. Haven't used it in a few years but at that time there was two versions, one with a small carnauba content which I really liked and one with out.

Wonder why they would tell you the produc was relabled? Got this from their site:

Distributors Wanted Allbrite is looking for and welcomes new distributors:

Our philosophy is to provide great service and reasonably priced products to you as our distributors without tying up your hands to only carry Allbrite products. We believe that you distributors are an independent contactors who sell the best available products to your customers and satisfy them with what they are looking for. We at Allbrite are customer focused so we do not mind private labeling for you if that is what will work better for you and we will put your name as a distributor on our products. So your customer contacts you for re-order.

PRIVATE LABELING: It is done in three ways.

1. On 4 color, very professional looking Allbrite label we put your name as a distributor and your contact info. RECOMMENDED & PREFERABLE METHOD.

2. We make high quality black & white label with your info and your logo on the labels.

3. We help you to get the professional quality 4 color labels done thru our label supplier and send your products with your labels.

IMPORTANT: When we do private label for you, we keep that info confidential. For the same reason we will not tell you for whom we do private label.

For distributor inquiry, please fill out this form. Then someone from Allbrite will call you and give you necessary info and some products to try.

Just looked in my old catalog, Show Shine QD (FP-049) has the carnauba content and the other is marketed as Clay Lubricant (FP-053). Since Allbrite and Finish Kare are owned by the same people it makes sense that you will find similar products. I never did notice a difference in the Finishkare 2180 sealant and the Allbrite 2180 sealant.

The bottle I have says "contains wax, silicones, and polymer" and is very pink.

I just checked it out. It seems very interesting. So which would be the correct allbrite product. I just checked the site out and they have two kinds. I'm guessing the product they label as a clay lubricant is the relabel FK425 product right? I guessing this because this FK425 does not have any wax content at all am I'm thinking Allbrite Show Shine is a just spin-off of FK425 with wax.

The sticker on the bottom of my quart bottle says FP-049 but in their catalog it shows a gallon bottle and is called FP-048. This is the one they told me was FK425.

That is great news. Can anyone else confirm this? I am a self-confessed FK425 addict and I use about 1.5 gallons a year.

Will we get to start another knock-down-drag-out thread about the evil of relabeling now? Haven't seen one of those in a while. :D

I have been using Show shinw for many years, and it´s nothing like 425. Maybee the newest version of Show shine is 425?

I am not sure the products are identical. It looks like FP-048 and FP-049 contain wax while FK-425 does not.

SHOW SHINE (FP-048)

• Final detailer that adds a radiant shine to

previously detailed cars.

• Perfect for maintaining show-room cars

in top condition.

• Quickly removes dust, fingerprints and

smudges.

• Contains wax, silicones & polymers to

provide that “wet look” and durability.

Due to wax content, not recommended as a

clay lubricant.

Allbrite also carries a non-silicone version of

Show Shine (FP-048N) for the Paint & Body

Shop market.

SHOW SHINE (FP-049)

• Final detailer that adds a radiant shine to previously detailed cars.

• Perfect for maintaining show-room cars in top condition.

• Quickly removes dust, fingerprints and smudges.

• Contains wax, silicones & polymers to provide that “wet look” and durability.

Due to wax content, not recommended as a clay lubricant. Allbrite also carries Non-silicone version Show Shine (FP-048N) for Paint & Body Shop market.

FK-425: ... it also protects the paint with anti-corrosive agents and UV inhibitors held in place by polymer resins. This additional protection reinforces your existing wax or paint sealant.

The clay lubricant version show shine FP-053 is probably what is supposed to be 425. I haven't used it though so I wouldn't know, I have only used the Show shine with carnauba.

Someone should just buy the clay lube version of show shine and compare.
