Astra VXR protection

An Astra VXR protection detail that took a couple of visits to complete fully - Rain

This car is brand new, freshly delivered, driven about 30 miles down the wet/salty motorway to the owner. So he was keen to get it looking spanking new and fully protected to face the winter. A Winter Protection Detail should see the car right.

On initial inspection, it was looking a bit drab and mucky -

First off, a good re-clean inside.

Vacuumed with Numatic Henry

Glass with AS Fast Glass

Trim with Megs APC 10:1

Black gloss trim with QD

Door jams shampoo dilution

Then on to the exterior.

Wheels with Vikan brushes and VP Bilberry -

VP Citrus pre-clean mist -

Then washed with Sonus mit and Megs Shampoo plus. Left undried for clay stage.

Clay cleaning with CYC yellow, pre-warmed in this weather to prevent marring. Anyone who thinks a new car doesn't need claying, look away now -.....................

Then rinsed over and dried with Sonus towel and Megs Last Touch.

Body and wheels -

Clean and seal with Carlack NSC followed directly by Carlack LLS.

Then 2 layers of Collinite 476s applied.

Afters ( with rain ), and to wet to apply branded plate, so reg. twisted.

Thanks for reading.

Love that car, I wish we got them on this side of the pond. That clay pic is amazing, I don't think I've ever seen that much contamination on a new car.

Great writeup. Love those cars, especially that color. Love those tight beads with Collinite too. Great job!

bet that was sitting on the docks a long time :hmph:

Looks great afterwards and love that colour as well :2thumbs:

Thanks for the comments.

The fallout was quite heavy, no tar in that pic either, just fallout. The owner was very impressed.

Just the clay alone transformed the life of the finish.

We do. It's called the Saturn Astra.

Well, sort of. We now get the Astra, but not the VX-R. We only get one engine choice: a 1.8 liter 138bhp variant. The VX-R has a 2.0 liter turbo engine with 240. Maybe someday we'll get the hot engine(s).
