has anyone tried the armor all Ultra shine that you can buy at walmart autozone, etc what can this be compared to shine wise for a tire treatment or dash use?

is this waterbased?

Frankie: Here's the plan:

1. Aim for the goalpost. Substitute any of your AmourAll products for the football. Kick. Reload, ty again, as required.

2. Spend some researching the site(s). It is at least equivalent to a 13 week college level course.

3. Drop the "ie".

I would not describe it as a nice shine or a sheen, more like a grease spot on the dash. Armorall is usually pretty greasy and messy.

For over the counter stuff, I would use:

Dash= Meguire's vinyl + rubber protectant

Tires= Stoner's more shine less time (aresol) or meg's endurance gel

Actually, the regular Armor All, since it was reformulated it a very good product. Nice natural sheen and it lasts a long time.

I don't get why people like shine on the dash...all it does it make it hard to see from the glare...dangerous.

I use 3m's Rubber protectant on tires...good stuff...not the "shiny greaseball" look of black magic, but better for the rubber. Truthfully I think the 3m looks classier too. For the dash it's 303 of course.

Go ahead and try it, and report back to us how you like it. :up If I recall correctly, this Ultra shine stuff is in a black and white bottle (up here anyway), and isn't the clear, colourless stuff, right? For all that I can tell, it's water-based just like the Original formula. Maybe just more concentrated or something if I were to guess. If in doubt, check for mention of petroleum distillates and open it up if you can and see if it looks like a PDMS.

The only stuff that is harmful is those clear, colourless ones. People may not think the water-based Armor All protectants are "good products" - that's fine - but these ones aren't "dangerous".

Check out this thread, with a link to a comment Ron K made a while back in there somewhere.... http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18755&highlight=armor+all+water+based+pdms

Whatever you decide to use, just make sure it has no petroleum in its ingredients. Everyone knows what petroleum does to rubber and plastic.and yes, armor all has petroleum in it.
