Are there any neighbors, or friends just like you?

Are there any neighbors, or friends just like you that have the same habit as far as keeping your cars detailed?

My gf loves to wash her 06 Civic Hybrid and she uses the same products as I do. We always talk about car detailing such as techniques and new products, but it's becoming less and less now since she is busy with her Masters Program. She's been the only buddy I talk to when it comes to detailing. Oh... she bought the new UDM but, she's yet to use that thing. I'm jealous.....

None of my co workers ,or friends are into car detailing (that's why I'm on autopia). I'm into sports like a lot like my peers, but car detailing has become a new addiction for me. I just keep this new hobby of mine to myself. My good friends know about it, and I did a few side jobs as well, but usually I'm the only one so interested on how a cars paint looks when I'm walking through a parking lot LOL!

When I'm coming home down my street, I see a guy cleaning his current gen Honda Odyssey all the time, but can only catch him when he's in the garage drying it. I know he washes it because his drive way is wet. I wonder if he's using the right technique...

A couple of houses before mine, I see another guy that has a black Mercedes (don't know which Class) but I've seen him wash his car at 3am in the morning. That was the only time I seen him clean his car. I did manage to see what cleaning products he has stored as I drove by. Pretty much Armor All tire foam, and leather wipes. My question is.... how the hell is his car always clean?? His car sits out in the sun all day long, and I can never see any swirls. It's beautiful in it's own stance...

I have another neigbor that has one kid he pays, or teenager cleaning his red Dodge Magnum. Usually I would see the boy on a Sunday cleaning his interior. One day I seen him using a bathroom towel wiping off the glass. I didn't bother to stop him... just drove on by.

My next door neighbor would have a friend come over on Sundays who drives a Blue BMW M5 and washes his car there, while I would be mowing the grass. I would wave and say hello, but never stopped by to ask what he uses. I seen him use a buffer, but it was no PC. He likes to use those thin MF towels from Wal-Mart. I can't remember since I have not seen him come over in a while.

I need a car detailing buddy.. haha.

No I am one of a kind, special - just ask my mom:)

I do know people that come close to me when it comes to how they like to keep thier vehicles.. one is a friend, the rest are my customers:clap:

Wow, you've got a great gf! Mine has yet to wash her car since she's gotten it, and hasn't even taken it to the swirl wash! Whenever I mention something detail related, her eyes just glaze over, lol.

Only time when she would "roll" her eyes is when I spent most of my work hours on Autopia!

My gf washes her car before taking it in for a tune up, so she check to see if they touched or damaged the paint!

Wow, youve got a GF that talks about Detailing?!?!! Let alone washes her car?!!?! Dont let that one go!!!!

Ive never met someone in my area that knows what detailing is. Only people Ive met in person were the people at the meguiars Road Show.

^ I know. She usee to work on imports with her guy friends before. I'm just more concern with the paint condition on cars.

She would question me about why I clean my fender wells. She stated that I don't need to clean them all the time because no one will see them! I told her, maybe if I didn't need to come pick you up in your dirt road, then I didn't have to clean my wheel wells all the time!

There's a fella down the stree with an '04 Caddy DTS that came up one day when I was out washing my car asking what the hell I was doing with those 2 buckets. We started talking a little. He thought he had been keeping his Caddy in primo condition until I showed him all the swirls on it. Pretty much peed all over his parade. There's another guy up the street with a Mustang Cobra (not sure what year) who keeps his ride very clean. Not sure how his paint is though as I've never seen it up close. He's also the type of guy that you probably couldn't tell him to do something differently or that he's doing something wrong.

My wife can wash, wax, and clean up a car with the best of them. My brother in law owns a 1979 Ford F100 w/original paint and 52k miles, that I kid you not looks like the day it left the production line, I kid you not. So yeah, some can hang but most cannot. Some people see very little imperfections on a cars finish, we analyze it to death. lol

I have a neighbors that also washes his cars by himself, slaps on a layer of wax occasionally. We've talked a little about detailing and products, but I don't think he's nearly as obsessed and meticulous as I am. I REALLY WISH I had a neighbor who I could discuss detailing with, it would really be awesome :)

i have a few neighbors like that and they seem to be know-it-alls. i would say something to help them, but this day & age you don't know how people will react. i'll wait till they come over to me for advice LOL...

I don't have any one either. Most of my neighbors look at me like I'm an alien when they see me at work on my car. Having seen my friends' cars, I haven't mentioned my obsession. It would be great to have someone to compare notes with in person, and, as I am a newbie, learn from. But failing that, I am grateful for this forum.

I just don't like the neighbors that stare out their window when they either hear the sound of running water, or me running the mower.

i've got a buddy around the corner who just moved down from ny, we were in the same corvette club up north. he had a mag red c5 which won him a ton of awards, now he has a 2007 c6 which he showed over in boca raton a couple of weeks ago and for the first time a judge told him how he's been judging corvettes for a long time and has never seen a cleaner car than his, i mean he evev polishes the heat sheilds on his exhaust. like me he's always looking to make it better. both being retired we'll get together the day before a show and detail our cars together, it's alot of fun spending time doing what you have a passion for with someone with the same passion, btw he took best in show out of 27 other vetts at the show.

Most dont wax there car very often, my son somethimes, my daughters never. Another son cleans his car often. Most people I know think Im obsessed, well I am.
