This question was asked at another forum:
Is the 7336 different internally compared to the 7424 ?
Porter Cable 7424 or 7336, is it the same machine??

yeah, pretty much. I've got the (9)7336. It comes with a case and a 6" backing plate. It's sold as a sander but the machine is identical to the 7424. you may also see a 7335...that's a 5".

In use, all 5 days of the work week, at our subsidary, we have over 70 7336's in use each day and have for the last 7 years.
We tryed the other models from Porter Cable, found them to not have the longivity of the #7336.
To our customers of Automotive International, in the PrepExcellence School, etc, we only recommend the #7336.
They can be purchased at less price than we sell them for, due to volume buys by companies who have multible outlets, etc, so not trying to sell anyone a P/C.
There are some major differences, internally, that one may not be aware of between the different models.
Here it is, in plain English, our shops, who do over 15,000 vehicles a year, the units are used 5 days a week, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM each day, all day long, and we have a failure rate of less than 5 units in a year of use, of the 70!
There is a difference, but only if one uses them for real, daily work.
