aquawax vs sonus glanz

hey guys i have several coats of klasse sealant glaze on my car:cool:

are aquawax and sonus glanz spray similar things?...its just aquwax is so much cheaper and can be used on other finishes so im drawn towards that, but the sonus says its especialy for klasse

so if i use aquawax over sg , can i continue to layer sg at a later date

can anyone reccomend some qd's that are compatible with klasse as all mine are nuba ones

Jeff's Werkstatt Acrylic Glos would be another one.

If you're looking at QDs, I'd be looking more at the Sonus Acrylic Spritz than the Glanz. Glanz is more of a spray sealant and doesn't really have any cleaning ability IIRC.

KSG is notoriously finicky about what it will bond to.

I've used AW over KSG (with great results) but I've never tried to put more KSG back over the AW.

If you try this out - let us know how it goes.

I havent had the same issues with SG as you have. I have topped with AW, #26, P21S, Nattys, and JW products with no troubles.

You can top KSG with most anything.

The question is whether you can put more KSG on top of the "toppers"/ will KSG bond to AW, #26, P21S, Nattys, etc. ?

The standard answer I've always heard is that KSG really only bonds well to Klasse AIO or Werkstatt Prime and definitely will not bond to carnuaba.

Whether KSG would bond on top of AW though is an interesting question and I've never heard anyone post about their experience with this.

the next question is how would we know if a further layer of sg has bonded or no? the car would still be slick and protected with its previous layers of sg and aquawax , and its not like non bonded sg is going to peel or flake off

Exactly - I don't know how you could test whether the SG had bonded or not using any simple method.

KSG looks very different from AW so that would give you some indication of whether the KSG had bonded to the AW - but not a very good or reliable indicator.

Addressing my experience with AW over SGx8, I was surprised to find AW as a topper that goes very well with SG. It changes the look some but for the most part, it retains most of the qualities that I like about SG in the appearance department. AW is pretty optically clear on the paint and lets the characteristics of the previous layer come through whatever it is. It adds some wetness and gloss to suggest a new layer of the previous topper but not much else. Since AW doesn't have swirl-hiding ability, I find it very useful when the previous layer is still relatively new and swirl-free. The only other topper for SG that I found I like is Souveran. S100, NXT, Gold Class, etc. have been nice but were a step down from unmolested SG (ok, I think S100 over AIO on silver is killer and still do).

I did try putting SG over the AW but I wasn't too observant of the results and didn't leave alone for long enough to give you any good info.

On silver, I found that AW leaves me with a carnuba look (deeper and wetter) than Sonus Glanz which gives me a real clean and reflecitve look.
I would agree with that assessment except my experience is with tan/beige paint.
