Aquartz vs Me

Got my "kit" from Avi, here's what I did with Aquartz and Aquartz+, the Iron Cut will have to wait for later.

As my car has 3 layers of Ultima Paint Guard Plus on, it was important to remove that before getting started. Something that is noted in the

instructions, make sure your applying to the paint, not a layer of wax or sealant.

I only did the hood (bonnet) of my van for this experiment. Mostly due to time and learning the way it works.

1. Wash with ONR

2. Polish using a DA and Menz SIP on an orange CCS pad.

3. IPA wipedown 50/50 mix

4. Inspect (no defects other than some stone chips)

5. Spray on Aquartz

6. Using a DA at speed 4 and a very soft foam pad, spread out

7. Hair dryer used for 5 min

8. Let cool 1hr (MF towels used to remove any residue)

9. 2nd Aquartz layer

10. Reapated steps for second layer

11. Aquartz+ was applied with a MF hand applicator (thin layer)

12. Used hair dryer for 5-10 min

13. Let cool 1hr

14. Using a second pad like was used in step 4, removed the Aquartz+

15. Used MF towel to buff and pick up any residue.

Everything seems to be fine, now I'm waiting the 12hrs (could be more before I get back to it)

:2thumbs:

I'm excited to hear your results using this new product. I'm reading a lot of good things about it. Where can it be bought?

I now have the hood and one side of my van done. So I thought I'd share some photos.

The hood is fully cured, in the side images Aquartz 2 layers and Aquartz + is in its cure time.

Enjoy!

So is there anything you can compare the finish to that you have used? It just looks very clean.

It has more reflection than UPGP, which was on before. I think the idea is that it has a mirror like finish, so it would just look clean. Also, the paint was swirl and scratch free before.

Worth the effort depends on what you want. It's not as fast to apply as UPGP, but most of the time for this process is waiting between steps. In my case I had to remove the existing sealant, so that added time. However after that it take about 5 min to apply each coat.
