Applying FMJ via PC

Does anyone have any tips for applying FMJ via PC? For instance how much FMJ should I put on my finishing pad and should I spread the FMJ around before turning the PC on? I have never used my PC to apply a LSP before, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would guess a finihsing pad + speed 3ish. yeah spread the product around before turning the machine on. you may end up using a lot more product than doing it by hand though.

I haven't done it with a foam finishing pad, but I have with one of the Surburf microfinger finishing pads.

The FMJ actually spread very well, and went further than it would've by hand. I applied it in an "X" pattern over the pad, spread it a bit, and applied at a low speed.

The reason I don't use the PC to apply LSPs often is because it's just a pain in the *** to reach certain places on the car, so it ends up being quicker to go by hand. No difference in looks, so choosing the faster route is more efficient.

I only apply FMJ via PC because it's so much easier and minimal product is wasted with a 4" spot pad since it's about the same size as an applicator.

Just experiment with it a bit, as it will quickly become apparent how much to use on the pad. Acrylic Shield QD tends to help it spread out a bit, but it's not necessary. I put an X or a line across it the pad every time the pad runs dry and stops applying. I don't bother spreading it on the paint before turning the machine on. I suppose you could. I use speeds around 3 or 4.

Product tends to travel up into the pad, so sometimes giving it a squeeze can bring product back to the surface, or applying slight pressure.

Anyway, takes five minutes to apply to the entire car. Removal is just as fast once it dries.
