Applying #7 with a PC...

I tried this for the first time yesterday with a white CMA polishing pad. I know it doesn't need to be "worked in" and/or "broken down" like SMR and the like, but how many passes over a given area do you make. Is it bad to go over an area a few times, then buff off? At what speed?



Proper technique advice would be appreciated here...

I use a finishing pad with #7 at a fairly low speed...no more than #3. I also do relatively small areas, say half a hood, since once it begins to dry too much buffing off #7 gets more difficult. Going over two or three times won't hurt it but realize the more you go over it, the more it'll tend to dry thus making removal tougher.



I know lots of folks here aren't too fond of glazes but I happen to be a big #7 fan, especially on a very new or well maintained finish. I think it really enhances the gloss and gives a super wet look, especially on darker colors. When followed with #26 or P21s results can be striking.
 
I Agree....I've been using Megs #3 Machine Glaze with a white CMA pad.....I occassionally spritz the pad with some QD and it works great.



The PC practically takes the #3 off while making my last pass...usually about the 3rd.......I follow up with a micro-fiber cloth and the residue comes off easy....what a great shine it leaves behind.



Topped with #26 paste....now I have great shine and depth...the color looks richer. During the winter I use #20 polymer sealant....I know many have claimed that the #20 will romve #3/#7........but i've noticed a better shine with the combo.

You apply #20 OVER #7, and #26? How can that be...? I thought polymers needed a wax free surface to bond to? Is there something different about #20? Surely you couldn't apply klasse or zaino over 7 and 26?

Sorry for the confusion. I apply #20 over #3 Machine Glaze and #26 Paste over the #20.



The 20 over the 3 lessens the shine of the #3 a bit, but it is still better than the #20 alone.



I love the look of #26 over #3....deep wet look.
