Application of Opti Gloss

With help from Vega (thanks again man!) i ordered a 20cc syringe of opti-gloss. I was wondering from those who have used this LSP, how did you apply it.. Not the technique as in cross hatch pattern (which i plan on using) but rather did you use the foam pad that comes in the box (if it even comes with it, i just looked at the 10cc picture and didnt read package contents) or did you use a carpro block and suede microfiber? I just bought the 2 pack of carpro blocks on here and a pack of 10 carpro suede microfibers.

Thanks!

I forget who I saw mention it awhile ago but one person posted how they use the block and suede MF because it absorbs a lot less product. Makes sense since foam pads will inevitably absorb excessive product, which means wasted product. Not a huge deal with waxes or sealants but the super expensive (in comparison) coatings, you don't want to waste any

that makes perfect sense. I cant afford to waste product as im doing a suburban. Hopefully if i use the suede application i will have enough product left over to do my summer set of wheels or even a small sedan. Thanks for the reply!

Some people like this: Optimum Opti Dual Pro Applicator

I kind of like the Anthony Orosco blue Scott shop towel method, if you're doing small areas you can just use a small square of towel, or for larger areas wrap it around something (Anthony had suggested putting the yellow foam applicator in a nitrile glove then wrapping the shop towel around it).

Should I cancel my order and purchase the optimum applicator? Seems much easier for a large vehicle.I dont know why i bought before posting. I didnt even think about the optimum applicator.

Thanks!

Give them a call, if they are still backed up with Christmas shipments, they may be able to add it in, or if not, they will usually work with you.

EDIT: Or, they are doing free shipping today, no minimum over at Autogeek.net

" I kind of like the Anthony Orosco blue Scott shop towel method " ---Thank You, Setec Astronomy---

This is probably the best method for not wasting any product..

I put one of those really firm rectangular Tuff-Shine Applicator Sponges into a Nitrile Glove.

One new, clean Blue Cloth Shop Towel folded in half and half again, tightly wrapped and tied off at top over the nitrile glove..

You can halfway through or not, stop, take the Blue Towel off, refold it to a new place and continue..

The Blue Towel does not absorb very much and since its so thin it gives you almost all your product back - probably more back than a sponge..

I have never scratched any paintwork doing this but I am also very careful and only apply Coatings in a clean, swept, allow for everything to fall to the ground, doors closed, environment...

The firm Tuff Shine sponge is just right for my needs and fits into every place I have had to use it more easily than say a circular sponge..

Good luck with this !

new Optimum Block/optimum micro-suede applicators[/url]

What the hey? I remember long ago when someone asked about an Optimum paste wax, and Chris Thomas replied that it was OPT policy to not introduce products unless they could be leaders in their category, or what was the point? Well, I hope MDR, FerreX, and this applicator are fantastic products, because it sure looks like OPT is just trying to go tit-for-tat with CarPro.

EDIT: I see a few other new products at the Opti-Coat website store; some new MF towels and a wash sponge. Just makes me ask again where OPT's marketing dept. is, they have a subforum here and their own forum but they haven't been making any product announcements. How hard is it to do a few forum posts? Missed opportunity.

I just recently applied a coating of Gloss Coat to both my wife's & I's new Mazda's and used the Carpro Block w/ Small Applicators and it still took 20cc's to cover both vehicles.

So apply it sparingly.

Just a heads up…..

MF applicator or carpro suede. MF applicator will use more product but I think its the smoothest application.

Applying any coating with a yellow foam applicator take a bit of a learning curve. If you do decide to use it, you should not hear ANY squeaking. If you do its not primed properly. To prime it you have to really load the crap out of it on the first use.

I was watching some guy over the pond apply Gtechniq crystal serum with little cutout squares of an all purpose MF towel. application video looked incredibly smooth using this applicator. It was one of those typical yellow towels cut into a 2" x 2" square. He used like 4 of them for the entire car and without the block was able to get into every nook and cranny. let me try and find the vid.
