Apparently no one washes cars in Ohio: Someone send me a 100% cotton mitt please.

It's mitt replacing time for the winter. But in every place I've been to I can't find the 100% cotton mitt, unless it's on a stick (which I don't want).

If someone has better access to the 100% cotton one that has the better padding, than I do to these things and can send me one US post, it'll only be like $1.75 to put in a legal size envelope to send. I would really appreciate it and paypal you back the cost (plus the paypal fee) to pay for it.

e-mail yosteveweb@yahoo.com

Thanks guys/ladies :),
Steve

I know what you mean Steve, I can find anything here in Cincinnati either. What's up with these Ohio stores, they suck! ;) Except for AutoInt, they carry some cool stuff :up

Hey YoSteve:

I can get you some of these-- my local Kragens stock them at $4 a piece. PM me with the details unless someone else has a better deal...

Justin

EDIT: I thought you used a tiny little mini-MF and a foaming dispenser to wash your car? Change your mind? :p

half right there puterbum, mitt and dispenser. I need more surface area and more wisk away action in the winter with salt and grit on the roads. In the warmer seasons my car stays virtually immaculate all the time (we don't have dust here ;))

Thanks, I will pm you and maybe we can work something out.

Steve,

Are there AutoZone parts stores in your area? That's where I've had the best luck finding mitts and applicators (Viking, good quality for the $$$, imo) here in Omaha . . .

Good luck,

Tort

I don't think there is <em class='bbc'>anything[/i] in Steve's area. That's how he keeps his car so clean:D

Tort, yeah they do, there's an autozone across the street from where I work, they have the 100% ones with a pole attachment, but the one's that are in mitt form explicitly do not say 100% cotton, and you can tell the other ones are ever so slightly whiter. I was going to get the whole pole thing but for $9.99, I don't need all that pole :D

I really like the sponge cover chenielle but the one's I saw that were sooo plush didn't say 100% cotton. If anyone has access to one of those that'd be even better :)

I have seen 100% cotton chenille covered sponges made by Viking, but I wouldn't use it unless I had to because it seems to be less plush. The pile is different, I can't really explain without looking at it again.

There's also the issue of backflushing the mitt, which would be quite difficult with a pad. Even if you kept it really clean and rinsed after every swipe, what if some contaminant gets through the cloth and into the sponge, only to reappear later?

Not worth it IMO.

Steve,

I guess I'm fortunate, then . . . the AutoZone I found carries the 100% cotton Viking mits (the cotton symbol was on the cardboard packaging) at $2.99 ea., IIRC. I'll double check the price and that they're 100% cotton next time I'm in the store. If you get desparate, let me know, and I can mail you how ever many you need.

<strong class='bbc'>Is there a reason why ppl use 100% cotton chenille mitts instead of Microfiber wash mitts? [/b]</blockquote>
I know some do use Microfiber wash mitts, but I can only speak for myself. I use cotton mitts because I feel more secure with them due to their pile. There is a much larger area for any particles to be whisked away into in cotton, while microfiber's pile is quite short.

pb, they do make mf mitts that are as high a pile as chenielle mitts, they are just expensive and I didn't want to pay shipping for 1 expensive item :)

Heck, the SuperTarget around the corner has them in stock. I assume we're talking about the white chenille wash mitt. I think they also have a rectangular pad covered in chenille.

Steve, if you want I'll make a little tour and buy several of what I see and you can pick out what you want and sent the rest back.

PM me or e-mail me at bretfraz@bellsouth.net

yo steve,

do you have a target near you?

i remember that they have a bunch of decent auto detailing supplies..including 100% cotton, plush, padded mitts and sponge pads.

try them.

i get my Viking mitts from Target and Autozone.....they always have low stock on the 100% cotton ones(labeled)....so i had written an email to jeff davis...the Viking guy that Dk turned me onto....asking about the "better mitts" that i liked....he said they come in the stores and go right out quik,,,,,anyway....i took a pic of the 2 mitts....according to davis....the one with the blue wrist bamd...and the foam is the lesser cotton % of the 2...the one with the white band is the one all u guys are talking about(Jeff sent me one to try out....it was the white banded one) thats the only reason i know....i just want o be sure we're all talking about the same /different mitts....steve...which ones are u asking for.....u can see the blue/white wrists...and i rolled the foam out for u to see...the white wrist one has no foam at all inside its just chenille...thru and thru...

Thanks for your responses, as usual, the love is strong on autopia :D

DK is going to send me some Zaino tire stuff (yeah, I know ;)) and he'll just add the mitt to his shipping.

Thanks, again.

its like a germ.you get it on u........anthrax baby!!!!!!!!!!!!there's no going back..........you'll be an outcast to your Klasse cronies...........banished to the detailing desert or dessert....whichever is the cake!!;) :p
