Well I made the mistake of parking under a tree with my freshly waxed car tonight.
When I came back from dinner there were all these droplets all over the place. I was chauffeuring relatives around so I refrained from cursing (too much) and breaking out the Agent Orange on the tree.
On the stop over to drop people off I noticed there were several aphids all over my car as I picked experimentally at the droplets. One and a half sweat-filled hours later I made it home and had my "Autopian Moment" washing the car in the dark at night. The thing that surprised me was that a lot of the rough droplets came off very easily - maybe even before using soap.
So was this sap and all those coatings over my paint let it slide off, or was it just "aphid juice" (sugar) and it basically just dissolved in the water?
By the way, does washing ASAP help with sap at all?
Thanks.
