APC not diluted enough damage wheels?

Got my car used about a year ago. Really without realizing what I was doing hit the wheels with Chemical guys grime reaper diluted at maybe 15:1 and soft-ish wheel brush, a total of maybe 6 or 7 times to get brake dust off. Sadly, I have also not put anything on them to protect them after any of this, I kept forgetting to order fk1000p. Upon a recent wash I noticed quite a bit of corrosion that is under the paint on one of the wheels. And then it hit me ... I wasn't sure at what dilution the APC was at in my bottle. Grime reaper is some pretty concentrated stuff. Could using this APC at too strong a mixture have led to the damage of the paint on my wheels? Pics to come later today.

That almost looks like it was a rust spot before and got painted/powder coated over and you just never noticed it. I'm initially thinking it isn't from your APC (unless you let it sit on the wheel too long).

I always did it in the shade and would only let dwell maybe 1 to 2 minutes before brush and rinse. That's the biggest spot of it. There are a couple of tiny more spots on the wheel. I'll have to inspect the others too. Bought the car last year certified used at a dealer. As far as I know the wheels are untouched, OEM 2007 civic si.

Read Spoolinomore's post!!!

Bet it is not the first set of tires on the vehicle or that it never had a flat tire.

The valve stem area was compromised when the valve stem was put in the wheel.

It broke the paint/clear surface and over time salt, cleaners, etc got to the metal, and corroded it, causing what you are observing.

It is really that simple, sorry, not a product problem, just age and a small area, I mean small, of bare metal being there.
