Anyone Using Yodle for SEO?

<span style="font-size:24px;"><span style="font-size:18px;">I was contacted tonight by a company based out of Austin, TX. They walked me through a 45 minute presentation on creating a new website optimized for every:

<span style="font-size:24px;"><span style="font-size:18px;">1.Major search engine (i.e Google, Yahoo, AOL)

<span style="font-size:24px;"><span style="font-size:18px;">2. Review site (i.e Yelp)

<span style="font-size:24px;"><span style="font-size:18px;">3. Directory (i.e Yellow Pages)...

The company is named Yodle.com... Any fellow Autopians using this or any other SEO service to promote their online listing? I'm trying to justify the cost of $195 a month, and so far I'm not 100% convinced of its worth.

I would try to negotiate a 15 month contract...3 free months up front to see how it goes (think of hiring someone on a probation period) and then if you are happy, sign a 1 year contract.

I wish that would work...I get many calls wanting me to sign up for this and that.... I never do, why? because I tell them, I sign up but I expect to try it for a little while first, if it works, I pay, if not you don't get a dime (i word it differently of course)....NEVER do they say..cool, let do it!

imagine if they said yes for two months free with a 12 month contract after!!!  loads more business!

For sure, but we all know these people that call are just salesman/ woman and they can't do it. I actually just got a call from these same folks yesterday, the funny thing about is that they don't do their research prior to calling folks. I told the guy that I'm already on the first page of google for most search criteria in my area, and I did it myself! He was like well, let's see and started doing searches and came back less than a minute later and was like my apologies for wasting your time, have a good day. I was like, cool.

Just want to throw a different perspective into the mix. I am not advocating for Yodle as I have never worked with them, but I do know a little about SEO and Adwords.

SEO when done right gives your business its best possible chance to be found online when someone does a search that is relevant. No 2 websites are alike so there is no cookie cutter formula that will work. Each site needs a specific approach to accomplish the goal of making it easier to be found. There are website elements, like titles, tags and copy that are similar tactics used from one site to another, but that is about it.

Think of Yodle as wholesale detailer (ones with a good reputation), they do the work efficiently and for a reasonable cost. You get someone that knows  about SEO and takes your existing site and makes it better. I don't know about their effort and time spent, but how long are you willing to invest your time for $195?  4 hours? 8 hours? (no clue as to what their or your cost structure is , but I just threw out some numbers to provide a real world example). As far as trying to get a few months for free and if it works you will sign on. It is the same as if a potential client approached you and asked you to detail their cars for free and if they are happy then they will have you detail their cars again.

The Adwords path if not don't right just ends up costing money. Google makes it too easy to spend money and their is a learning curve to managing a campaign. Besides set up and managing, there is a tracking element that needs to be thought about so ROI can be measured. Not just request quote submits, but phone calls and sales.

Optimizing a website and running an Adwords campaign if done right does work.
