Anyone use Meguiars Burgundy foam pads?

Garry Dean

Garry Dean Quality!
I tried Search, but I didnt really find anything.

Is the burgundy more aggressive than the LC orange?

Which one do you like better?

Do they leave heavy marring or do they finish ok like orange?

Depends on which burgundy pads you're talking about, Garry. The original SoftBuff cutting pads (6.5", W-7006) are REALLY aggressive and definitely don't finish out very well.

The SoftBuff 2.0 version (7", W-7207) isn't as aggressive, I'd probably put it right on par with LC Orange... and personally I think they finish out very nicely (though you probably won't be at an LSP-ready point with them alone).

The Softbuff 2.0 burgundy cutting pads use a very nice foam. It is a closed cell foam like Lake Country's H20 pads so you have to make sure to let them dry completely before using them.

In terms of cut they are more aggressive than than most polishing pads but not as aggressive as the old Edge black, Meguiar's Softbuff, or old yellow Lake Country pads. They have a fair amount of cut though and can get you very close to an LSP ready finish.

Thanks Todd. I just saw your chart over on Corvette Forums. Can you post that over here so we all have it?

I guess there is zero chance of comparing LC to Buff and Shine pads based upon some real comparisons.

I recently using these pads with M105. I was impressed with their performance and the subsequent level of finish. It is an aggressive pad, but it was the perfect pad to deal with a bad case of holograms. I used them on a Flex XC 4301VRG.
