Anyone try the Rubbermaid car duster?

Went to Target today hoping to pick up a California Car Duster (Vroom/Baja-labelled), but the only one they had was the new Rubbermaid "CarWares" car duster. Good price, but I didnt purchase it because I wasnt sure if its better/equal/worse than the CCD. Also, it doesnt come with a storage bag, which I thought might be a problem (I dont need it sitting out collecting dust while just sitting there!)

Has anyone seen/tried it? WalMart around here carries the CCD, but they have all been out of stock. The Rubbermaid would be easiest to get if its a safe product, otherwise Ill just drive further until I can find a CCD (or the Oxo duster, but I really doubt Ill find that locally).

Thanks!!

I was surprised when I went to Target for mf towels the number of car detailing products made by Rubbermaid.

This would seem to indicate that detailing is going more mainsteam.

I wonder if this is a good thing? Will we have more products to pick from or will it drive some of the low volume but high quality manufactures out of business?

Sorry I can't help you about the duster, I never use them.

The fact that its a "mainstream" company is actually what made me think twice. Funny how in just about every aspect of what we do in our lives (not just detailing!), we always find that the least-known/hardest to find product(s) are the ones that work the best. Half the time they arent even the most expensive.

I guess that just makes us "rebels" because we dont buy into hype/marketing. Unfortunately, the fact that mainstream companies make inroads to just about any type of product (i.e. Rubbermaid making detailing supplies) shows that people who look for quality rather than brand-names are the minority.

As far as *using* the duster, I pretty much just want something that can take off dust easily before I start polishing a different panel on my car (lots of dust gets kicked up in my garage, and the car is so swirled its taking a LOT longer than I thought it would to complete the job, so Im getting dusty panels from having the car sit so long without wax/sealant on it). For now, Ill just use QD and a microfiber to clean up each spot I need to polish. Maybe Ill look into the duster later.

Thanks!
