Anyone tried WalMart glass cleaning tool?

I saw a kit at WalMart consisting of a short handle with a pad on the end to secure a microfiber (kinda like a small broom or mop). It's supposedly for cleaning glass, including automotive. Looks like it might be handy for reaching across the dash and the back deck, if it's strong enough to put a bit of pressure on it. Anybody tried it? If so, what do you think?

Thanks!

I have a very similar tool called the Glass Wizard. I don't know if Wal Mart has it but Bed Bath and Beyond and even Walgreens sells it.

Yes, it is a good tool. It's mostly how I clean my windshield, especially the interior. I find it gets the bulk of the film or dirt off but to make sure the glass is completely streak free I follow with a Norwex glass MF from Detailer's Paradise.com

The new duo sided Meguiars glass cloth along with the NXT glass cleaner is next on my list to try. I understand they may eliminate the need for both of these products.

I have the same Glass Wizard that Bill has..... and I also picked it up at BB&B for $10. I like it for hard to reach areas like the inside of a mini-van front window:

BillD,

Thanks for the reply. Do you use this with a dry MF, water, or window cleaner of some kind?

I have, and like pretty well, the Meguiar's gallon concentrate of window cleaner. Do they also offer NXT in concentrated form, I wonder?

Thanks also for the tip about the duo glass cleaner MF. Sounds like a very handy addition. Wonder if I could put it on the Glass Wizard for the extended reach ....

John/EliotNess,

That's it. Thanks for tracking down a pic of it. Yes, I have some corners in both front and back glass that are awkward to reach. Do you spray into those corners, use dry MF, or dampen the MF?

Thanks, gents.

When it is a light film or haze just some water:isopropyl alcohol. When its heavier, first a foam cleaner, I use Zep, then follow with the Norwex MF and the alcohol:water solution.

No, NXT does not come in concentrate. If you have the new detailer line glass cleaner, how well does it work?

I just use it initially with Stoner Invisible Glass, then trap a clean/dry MF under it and finish those hard to reach corners, then do the areas I can reach by hand.

I just picked up one of those new Meg's duo glass MF's, and although I haven't used it yet, I don't see why you couldn't do the same thing with it (trap it under the Glass Wizard).

A nice tool Meguiars missed (so far..) is their own version of the Glass Wizard. They could have it in black plastic like the rest of their lineup with the Meguiars logo and nice glass MF bonnets for it. It could been sold as a set in a box just like Glass Wizard and refill bonnets seperately in pairs or packs.

John,

Sounds good to me. Thanks. I'll pick up one of these things this weekend. Also, I'll look for the Meg's duo at some local places like O'Reilly's ... if I don't find them, I'll order when Meg's comes back online.

Bill,

Yes, this is labeled as "Detailers"; it's a concentrate you dilute 10:1. I was using Stoner's IG up until I got this. To me, it seems to clean a little bit better than Stoner's, and it's a lot easier to control w/ the Sam's Club adjustable spray bottle (compared to the IG aerosol.) I was getting overspray onto the roof when I used Stoner's on the front windshield. I use the cheapy Sam's Club yellow MF. It's a little grabby on the glass, but it works well. (This is until I can try the duo, anyway.)

If you would like to try the Meg's glass cleaner concentrate, I'd be glad to send you a sample bottle. Let me know.

Russ, O'Reilly's is where I found the Meg's duo glass cloth. It was the only place around here I've seen that carried some of the new Meg's products (some brushes, MF's, etc.). FYI, they also have the new Mother's PowerBall on sale this month.

I wonder if it would reach the back glass on an SC430?

I have something similar called the "GlassMaster" -- it does a great job on f-body windows with that nasty rake angle; even gets into corners where you'd never be able to get your hand into.

I'd have to say if it can get f-bodies, it can get just about anything. Fbod windows are THE WORST that I've come across.

Thank-you, sir! :xyxthumbs

Looks like I need to run by Wally World.

Thanks, John. Good to know it's available locally sometimes. We have O'Reilly's, Auto Zone, and Advance Auto all within about two blocks .... I'll try O'Reilly's first.

Had to take the gf to hickory a short while ago, and while I was out, I was thinking about this post, and decided to pick one up from bed bath and beyond, it really looks like it would work VERY well, comes with two of the microfiber bonnets,....i can post pics if neccesary

It does work rather well. FWIW, I alwys wash any MFs before use. You quickly hand wash the bonnets, stick them in dryer and they're ready to go.

heh. Just picked one up. Glad I read this before I tried it out. Thanks for the tip about pre-washing the bonnets, Bill. Guess I'll apply that to all new MF, like you said.
