Anyone know where to get towels like the ones at Griots Garage which are embroidered?

I'm not sure where you could get something like this other than Griot's, but I offer you an alternative. How about just buying towels in two different colors. One color for drying and the other for waxing. Also, why do you want 100% ****** towels? Microfiber is WAY better than ******.

Ummm . . . why does this website censor the word c-o-t-t-o-n?

Due to some issues with a MF vendor pushing his MF's a bit too aggressively, DavidB had to setup that new word filter.

I mentioned the problem to DavidB. I don't think the intent was to filter the word "c-o-t-t-o-n"; rather, it was to filter on the pusher's business name.

MinorDetails- The advice to go with MF instead is worth heeding. And I have the Griot's towels, they're not all that great. No way will I use the "Dry" towels on *my* paint now that I know better (I use them for under the hood/etc.) and the "Wax" towels aren't in the same league as MF/CBTs.

With MFs, you could (should?) go with waffle-weaves for drying and plush ones for polish/wax removal. Visibly different so it accomplishes the same thing, other than the admittedly cool appearance of the Griot's towels. But I'd rather have the cool appearance be that of my vehicles ;)

Griot's actually has some pretty good MFs. I have their WW drying towel. It's exactly the same as Big Blue II (except it's yellow) and costs the same as well.

FWIW, just check out the GG's MFs carefully before you do the whole car with them. The Wax and Polish Removal MFs I got from GG's left ever-so-slight micromarring on the Jag's soft lacquer. I sent them back with an explanation. That's not to say that a) it would've been a problem on any other car, b) that they're still selling the exact same MFs, or c) that those weren't from a bad batch. Just test 'em out to be on the safe side.

Oh, and while I'm harping about their MFs, their MF bonnets just didn't work for me. The bonnets kept slipping around on the pads and never really took off much wax/polish. Weird, especially since I'm such a proponent of MF bonnets in general.

No, I never tried their WW and I'd assume it's just fine.

I just got some CBT bonnets from Autopia.com. Have you ever used those? I haven't had a chance to yet.

No, I haven't tried those yet. Heh heh, might not try them for a while as I just placed an order at the Autopia store and didn't think to include them.

If I had the CBT bonnets, I'd probably use them for a final burnish/buff after first removing the bulk of the product via other means.

Once you've had a chance to try them, post something about how the CBT bonnets work out for you.

I will definitely post a review as you requested. I was thinking of using them exactly as you mention. Basically as a final buff after product is removed.

A note about embroidery... while it may look nice I'd recommend steering clear of it. Unless you are sure the embroidery threads are pure c o t t o n and have tested for abrasion you do run the risk of scratching from the embroidery. Also, even if the thread is c o t t o n there may be a backing material that can scratch. Just be careful.

David... fix the filter please, it's a pain to spell c o t t o n with spaces
