I cant stand it i have a 2001 Lexus is 300 and ive done everything i have th pc and have done meguiars swirl remover, pinnacle paint cleaner and apply pinnacle souveran about once or twice a week. You guessed it the car is BLACK, after doing this all i still seem to have very fine swirls and scratches when in the sun light. Someone told me there is nothing i can do that its just gonna be like that in the sun. I dont know if i should believe that or not. i use YoSteve's microfibers and griots garage microfibers and foam bonnets on pc. Someone tell me what im doing wrong if anything.

P.S. Anyone else try usuing zaino for a while than notice it doesnt give the depth or clarity to the paint that pinnacle souveran does? Just curious.

I have detailed cars in the past that had swirls all over. I used 3m swirl remover with the rotary machine, I then used hand glaze, a coat of paint sealant. All work was done by machine. The owner was very happy and is a present customer. The car was black. every now and then i see some swirls(not from me, she takes the veh to a car wash!) I use 3m and they seem to be gone, or at least covered up.

Question: the swirls are they on the paint or in the paint? If excessive heat has been applied to paint it can look like there are swirls, but in fact the paint is damaged. No amount of buffing will get them out. But as the car is new and has been looked after hopefully this is not the case.

Meguiar's swirl remover will only remove very very fine swirls. You need something more abrasive like 3M's SMR, and if that does not work use something even stronger than that like 3M's FI2, than you can use a paint cleaner like pinnacle or #9 to remove the micro hazing.

<strong class='bbc'>Meguiar's swirl remover will only remove very very fine swirls. You need something more abrasive like 3M's SMR . . . [/b]</blockquote>If you're speaking of #9 2.0, I disagree completely. It's nearly abrasively equivalent with 3M SMR, technique is all that matters. If you work either one long enough for an application or two you'll remove all light-med swirls and put a sizeable dent in deep ones.

#9 2.0 is as abrasive as 3m's SMR? I know that the #9 i have is not very abrasive at all.

And yes technique is everything.

<strong class='bbc'>Darn now i need to buy more detailing products:rolleyes: Intel do you use #9 2.0 with a rotary, If you do how well does it work? [/b]</blockquote>
Yes, I use it with a Rotary. I have a Makita 9227C. I use a white finishing pad from Milwaukee. I tried it with a black finishing pad from Lake Country Mfg. but it left swirls. I'm going to try the yellow cutting pads from them to see if the black one just isn't abrasive enough to break down the abrasives.

#9 works awesome. The results I got are the same as the results with 3m SMR but, from my experience, #9 was easier to get a swirl free finish with.

One of my customers had several thousand dollars of damage done to her vehicles from rats in the engine compartments . I discovered a nest under the hood and it had aparently been riding along with the owner when she pulled up . Her Jack Russell jumped onto the engine when I opened the hood and the huge rat jumped out!X_Xit was quits a scene LOLthat was a few months ago

Anyway today I discovered tiny mouse droppings all over her engine compartment. They were everywhere ! I cleaned it up with diluted vinegar because I read it kills their scent . Anyway , does anyone know of anything that will keep these rodents away from her cars ? They are garaged .And she already has ongoing traps and her Jack Russell dog that kills them everyday . She lives in the country so its an ongoing never ending problem. Thanks!

Perhaps a big cat, they will hunt the mice and rats down, kill and eat them...this is what my grandfather used for years in his barn in Ohio...no mice ever

I have cats too - last week they killed a squirrel, now that's what I'm talking about! The only mice I see are the remains of successful hunt for them.

I always heard to use moth balls when storing a car. You put them in the trunk, under car seats, etc. I've done it myself and never had mice but I don't live on a farm either! If this method is chosen, I don't see why you can't keep the moth balls under the hood all year long.

Mom put fabric softner sheets in all the tractors and the combine after harvest last fall.. I have looked in the combine yet but at least the tractors smell better

DC,
Wow, how fun that must have been !

The Client needs to start closing all the openings in the garage that allow the rodents access, and keep the door/s down all the time unless moving the vehicle in and out.

Probably call a pest control place- Terminex or something like that to put those closed bait stations around the area. These should be safe and the dog wont get into them, but you have use common sense too here.

And as said before, a big cat or two even adopt one from a Shelter, but it has to be a mousing cat,, not one of of those indoor freeloader variety. :)

Never heard that mothballs will deter rodents, as they can easily adapt to anything and chew through even wire if they have to, etc....

Of course, goes without saying, have to keep all car doors, windows, internal vents CLOSED until the problem is eliminated (if ever)...

Sorry you have to fix your part of this, but glad its you and not some clueless person, etc..

Good luck !

Thanks ALL for your suggestions. She doesnt like cats for some reason so I dont forsee her getting one .....plus there are tons of coyotes out there that eat family pets. She does however have an owl box and the owls do a good job of hunting the rats .If she got snakes to take care of the problem Im not sure I could handle that one!:DThere is already ratttle snakes out there but thankfully I havent seen one yet!

There are mice traps everywhere on her land and her Jack Russell catches them daily ,kills them and then gives it to her other dog buddy ,a shepherd . He eats them in 2 chomps . Its really disgusting to watch the team. She plays with them first and then rolls around on them after she kills them. :scared:

Ive heard the moth balls and dryer sheets before too but I had a rodent problem in my shed and yard and that didnt seem to faze them .

I had one particularily aggressive rat that would come jump up on to my door everynight and climb up the screen door . I tried everything to make him leave in a humane way like squirting him with water ,making lould noises ,yeelling ect...and in the end massive amounts of black pepper thrown at him did the trick !:Dand he never came back.

It does not matter how much money one has or how clean you are here. San diego in certain areas has really bad rodent problems . One of my customers million dollar homes was completely infested with mice when they bought it and they did not know . Can you imagine?

Im going to be checking under my hood as well now when Im there because I dont want one of her mice to come home with me !!:D
