Im looking for an air compressor for my trailer. It seems ill really benefit from having one to blow out those vents, dirt, drips etc. I dont know what size to get? im only going to use it for detailing only, so that is all i need it for. I just need to know what size to get so it doesnt run out so quick or what not. I like the husky 3 gallon, but i dont know if that is big enough. My generator isnt the problem, tank size configuration is.

Thanks

Rich

I'm looking into comprssors myself and so far have been told the following:

1. If it's only going to be used for blowing out cracks/vents etc, don't worry about the size of the tank - the compressor itself should have enough capability to give a high enough through put. Apparently you only really need a big tank if you're going to be running pneumatic tools etc.

2. Make sure it has an oil trap fitted. The tanks are coated in oil when they're manufactured to prevent them rusting. If you don't have an oil trap fitted this oil will be transfered to the surface you're dusting, creating just as many problems as it solves.

I searched around for quite a while for a compressor that I could use mobile for purging cracks/vents and filling customer tires etc. I found that all I needed was an oil-lubed, 1.5-3 HP, 2 gallon plus compressor. I would have loved to get something around 33 gallons with ~5HP because I had the space and a few pneumatic tools I could use it with but I had other equipment to buy.

I first purchased this Craftsman 3 gallon unit from Sears (for $80 after sale) and used it twice but the thing was freaking annoying. I looked around online and ordered this Makita 2.6 gallon unit from Amazon for a little more than twice the Craftsman. Night and day in dB's and it uses less power.

Eventually I would like to figure out how to put something like a 10 gallon portable non-powered tank in-line with it so I have more capacity but for now, I am happy.

y was that craftmas annoying, that is the one i wanted or the husky for the same price just about. Thanks for all the info, i thought i would need like a 30 gallon guy or something.
