waxes like Destiny and Vintage? Just wondering what they could possibly have in them to justify the prices. Also looking for something to use on my F355.

Thnx

That would be the wax melting, lol.
That's what I heard. I think these waxes must be so stiff and loaded with (hard) carnauba you have to soften/melt it with your hand to apply it.

Now this is a "hot wax"! ;)

I believe, if one goes for Zymol's top wax (I forget it's name) - at around $1000 - they place it in a crystal container and refill it for life. What a deal! :xyxthumbs

Don't buy it! They're all hype! All of the zymol's(yes, even the expensive ones) ranked pretty low in the Wax Test, and Carbon even ranked higher than them performance wise.

Spend your money wisely and get some s100/P21s or some Souveran! They'll give you an awesome shine on that F355!!:xyxthumbs

You might like Zaino, too, who knows? Just read around here for awhile and try a lot of products, then pick YOUR favorite! That's what being an Autopian's all about!;)

RickyN:

I have used the Zymol Ital and had great results with it on a '91 Testarossa. Made the paint much deeper in color and the owner went on to win a large F-car show later on that month due to the extra depth. Besides for the Ital, the only other high end glaze "I have used is the Concours and have had great results with that as well. The real high end ones become a chore to apply and act up quickly in any humidity. Good luck.

Where are you located RickyN?

I haven't really heard much about the high end Zymol wax. Fact is, not many people here have even tried the really expensive ones so we really can't give an honest opinion of them.

I'd say if you wanna spend the money give them a try. Might be worth the cost, might not.

I would say a good wax like P21S would suit your needs though.

I agree!:xyxthumbs Don't let the price fool you! It was ranked over Zymol Concours in all categories(shine, depth, durability, gloss, and color enhancement).

Give the moderately priced carnaubas a try first. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!;) In the car wax arena, especially with Zymol, higher cost doesn't always mean better results!:p

Before dropping a boatload of money on one of them to find out you don't like it, they make a sampler of most of the Estate waxes. You could try them a few times to see what you think.

I get the impression that durability isn't much of a concern with the Estate glazes, rather just appearance. But I don't know...

Zymol is all hype. No wax is worth that much money.

On a side note, I'm very surprised how far Blitz has fallen on this board. It used to be the most popular. Blitz is the most durable wax with a shine second to souvern.

I agree with some others, Zymol is all marketing....and it has arguably the worst durability and hardest application of any product on the market. Read the list of ingredients in some of their waxes and ask yourself if it costs an arm and leg to manufacture the product, given the price point. Given all of this, I'm not sure how they justify their prices, but whatever, they won't get my money anytime soon....

I still think Blitz is the best true wax for the money and it's very easy to use. I find it easier than P21S/S100 actually. And the shine is just as good IMO, not to mention durability. At $20 for the large tin, it can't be beat!

I think Blitz fell out of favor because of its tendency to stain molding and dusty residue in seams. The $10 difference for P21S with its non-staining formula and low dust production seemed worth the difference to me.:nixweiss

Unfortunately, the P21S with the Meg#26, Mother's, Meguiar's Gold Class, RainX wax, etc just sit in a cabinet and collect dust after trying sealants (Zaino/Blackfire combo).:xyxthumbs :wavey

BLITZ is a great product but the fact that it stains mouldings makes people think twice. BLITZ and P21S and Souvern are so close in shine and ease of use. Yes there is a different shine from the 3 but either one that you use will make your car shine

I agree about blitz staining. That drives me nuts!

In alot of recent posts I've noticed people talking about how they've used 3M, or Megs, or Mothers as wax toppers for their sealants. If you were on this board a year ago you'd remember that all of these waxes, including P21S were not even considered in the same league as blitz, due to the fact that their shine didn't last and their durability was questionable. I'm not trying to flame or anything, just surprised at how quickly things change.

No flame visible. Good observation.:bow Detailing and its products are very fluid. New and sometimes reformulated products are introduced very frequently. This is what makes this hobby so exciting... perfection is always one to two steps away and what was thought to be the perfect product and result has been surpassed by another. Would it not be boring if the same stable of products never evolved and techniques never improved? :wavey

If you would stop by, I will be glad to trade you some S100 for a ride in your F355. Heck, if you let me drive it, I'll put it on for you. In fact if you want to bring it by monthly, we could make that a regular project.

Hi Bill:

I agree.. When I first found this place, Klasse, Souveran & Blitz, 303, & EFHI were by far the most popular products here. In fact, back then it seemed almost automatic that a newbie would be advised to do the multilayer Klasse plus Blitz or Souveran topper routine. Some of the biggest changes I've seen are:

1. More OTC products being used & recommended.

2. More PC's (& a few rotaries) being used for surface prep.

3. More ppl using carnauba only (without any polymer base)...especially Meguiar's #7 + #26.

Not saying any of this is good or bad....just noting how different this forum has become.
