Anyone have any experience with Verizon FiOS?

I received a letter in the mail offering FiOS Internet, cable, and phone for $99 plus what ever hidden fees they tack on. The cable has already been set up in my neighborhood so I'm just wondering if I should do it. If so, what should I be aware of, what add on I should spend the money on (in particular with the Internet, I don't want to go slower than my current set up). I have read great things about FiOS, however the only complaint was billing issues. Also, has anyone been able to add their current Verizon Wireless phone to the bundle?

I currently have Comcast Internet and cable (DVR, Digital/HD).

FWIW, FiOS came out on top of all three categories in the recent Consumer Reports review of phone/internet/tv combined services. I personally would do anything to be off Comcast due to their completely ridiculous tech support for internet. I have no problem with their tv, but I can only imagine how bad their VoIP phone service is with the jello-solid internet connection I have.

I have to believe the Verizon VoIP (and therefore their internet service) will be solid, because how can you take customers who have had POTS lines forever and throw them into VoIP if it isn't as reliable? As far as the FiOS rates, you should be saving some money over Comcast, at least until the promo ends (get the two year promo to keep that price the longest). I expect Comcast to be Chapter 11 by the time Verizon gets everyone hooked up (which will be a long time).

Spilchy has FiOS and said it was great at last report. I work with a guy who got the FiOS tv and said his regular analog signal was much better (which is a FiOS claim). They knocked on my door the other night and I signed up...in the bundle they didn't give you any internet option slower than 20/5, for whatever that's worth.

We have Fios and really like it-we made sure to question everything regarding the bill, and Verizon was up front about all costs.

Yes, my rain-soaked door-knocker noted "hidden fees" (taxes and surcharges) adds about $15 to that $99 price.

I like our FIOS service but have never had Comcast so I can`t compare.
Just be careful if you change your channel lineup after your contract expires. I did it online and Verizon will try to throw everything and the kitchen sink in your cart. Such as inside wire maintenance, 3 months free premium channel that automatically starts billing if you don`t cancel etc. But it is easy to remove them from your cart before placing order. Just gotta watch because they throw them back in every time you make a change.

Fios is pretty awesome from what Ive heard. Has to he better than comcast. Those guys are terrible. Im fighting with them on the other screen right this minute.

I have FiOS. It`s good - I have no complaints. Verizon`s automated tech support tool has resolved most of the connectivity issues that have sporadically popped up. Only once in 3 years has a tech needed to come out and replace faulty equipment.

Wish I could dump the FiOS wi-fi router, though. It sucks you`re forced to rent it/ there are no 3rd party units for purchase. That is one thing Comcast has over Verizon.

I should add that I`m on FiOS. I`ve never had any real issues with either my Internet, TV, or phone server (I have a Triple Play bundle).

However, Verizon sold their California network to Frontier, and that`s been a disaster. The people at Frontier don`t know what they are doing, talking to customer service, billing, and tech support have all been a waste of time. I don`t have the patience to document all my gripes here -- suffice it to say I miss being a Verizon customer.

If you can get Verizon FiOS where you live, go for it.

FIOS Absolutely SUCKS For Phone !!! I was forced to switch. Nothing but PROBLEMS !! It is not perfected. Noisy , Interference, unreliable, for starters. It is hard to run a business when your phone service is down for 36 days, and there are no incoming calls. they tried to fix it, then another 10 days with no incoming calls. The second repair person blamed the problem on the installer. Still having on going issues. All to save them money by doing away with copper lines !!!

I`m not disputing that you are having problems, but yours is a broad generalization that doesn`t reflect reality. The FiOS network shouldn`t have any noise or interference because fiber is largely immune to those problems. The whole premise is that you have a dedicated fiber optic line running to your home or business, terminating in a ONT (Optical Network Terminal). What happens past the ONT inside your home or business (usually with copper wiring) is a whole different issue, but not indicative of the FiOS service.

I have had both Cable Vision and FIOS. The FIOS was business service internet, Phone and TV. The Cable was Home and another account for my Business.

FIOS service is fine, BUT when you have a problem, they have no trouble telling you that they will have someone out in 2 days. Really? My phones in my business are out and I need to wait 2 days? If you cannot fix your issue by re booting your modem or they cant fix it on their end, you are COOKED.

I left because of their lack of repair service and with cablevision they are usually out the same day or the next for sure. They will even send someone out after 5PM or on a Saturday. Not sure if Verizon will.

Cablevison actual service is good, I cant see a difference over fios. Price wise, they both nail you when they can, and they both drop their pants when your not a customer. Once you are, in a short timeframe the nailing begins and continues until you cannot take it anymore and cancel, then the retention department tries to cut you deal. I choose for repair service bc my phones, and internet are misson critical.
