Anyone Had Problems With Viper Mf's

I've ordered a couple of packeges of the viper MF detailing cloths from CMA. I'm happy with their performance in terms of buffing and product removal, but I'm noticing some marring after I use them. Has anyone else had problems with marring ( swirls) from theses towels. They are the green ones and also come with the delux PC kit.

If you are talking about the three pack dark green ones from CMA...those are the rough 80/20 blend and not like the plush blue "miracle" towels. Those towels are generally only recommended for the dirty work (i.e. door jams, sills, trunk, etc.) and not for buffing. If you are using them for buffing, I can see why you are getting marring.

In my experience, the Green Viper MF's perform poorly. They're pretty rough, fail the CD scratch test, leave a lot of lint on windows & yes, do seem to leave marring on my paint. I no longer use them on my cars.

The Miracle towels are much better. You can get them from CMA (www.properautocare.com) if you can afford the steep price-tag. A cheaper alternative might be micropak's from Pakshak.com. They're almost as good as the Miracle towels, but only cost $2/each.

Alright, now all you guys are scaring me. I got a green Viper towel with my Klasse Sonus Kit, and used it to put on some AIO. Are you saying those scratch?? What about the green MF applicators that come with that kit also....do they scratch also.....DOES EVERYTHING FREAKING SCRATCH?????????:nixweiss :angry

Intel, CMA says on their site not to use the Viper clothes on windows b/c they lint. Stick with the Viper MF for glass (if that's not what you were using).

I bought 6 MF applicators! Are these no good?! I have placed a zillion orders with CMA and bought these MF pads based on how great everyone said their MF's were!

Anyone use their MF applicators?

I eveb bought the Viper MF's since they said it was the best $5 MF out there. gggrrrr

from the walmart mf thread, i started testing everything i had on a cd and the green viper mf sponges that i got with my klasse kit didn't pass the cd test. they scratched a lot more than anything else i tested. my new unused cotton viking washmit also didn't pass.

Which viper towels are you referring to?

I bought a three pack of the Viper microfiber towels... they are VERy sticky, they stick to each other. I was told they are by far the best MF towel on the market, since they have 190,000 fibres.

I've used them numerous times on my BMW and my Jetta and they haven't left any marks.

I did some detailing on a Black car yesterday, and they worked perfectly.

Just to make sure, are you referring to these? http://www.properautocare.com/vipmicdetclo.html

I used both the green vipers and the yellow viper window towel. They both left lint.

Yes those are the ones I was referring to. I have about 12 of them and I have been having problems with swirls. And can't figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong.

I worked on a swirl-free black car yesterday. I apllied GEPC with the Green applicator and removed with the Green MF's. I then followed with S100 removed with the Green MF's. Tiny swirls all over the hood.

You might want to ask YoSteve about his MF towels. Apparently they were/are (unsure) are practically the same as CMA's Miracle Towels for less $$$. YoSteves were considered one of the very best you could get before, but I'm not sure how they compare nowadays with all the new MF vendors, changing stock, etc.. :nixweiss

Wow that is very weird. Have you given Terry @ CMA a call? Are you sure the edges of the towels aren't rubbing the paint?

OK I have some information about the MF towels everyone here talks about and uses. This may be hard for some of you to believe and I may even be flamed but I need to inform you guys of this.

All of the MF towels currently used or spoken of are all the made by the same company and resold to various retailers. These are the ones I know for fact that are the same:

CMA MF's

Microfiber Tech

Griots Garage

Yes believe it or not all of these towels are the same , I buy my towels from the actual importer of the towels , sorry I am not able to say who they are , but I have had many of conversations with them and they have told me they supply to these company's.

So my thoughts are that the problems are poor quality control issues and nothing more , one batch may be great the next not.

I thought you guys should know this and I hope the resellers don't attack me for saying this just thought it should be known.

Just did a little CD scratch test of my own, Autopians.

Green Viper MF with K-S Kit:

Light pressure - very light scratch

Heavy pressure - MISERABLE Failure

Green CMA applicators:

Light Pressure: Pass

Heavy Pressure: very light scratch

MF Tech Waffle Weave:

PASS

MF Tech Ultra Inconsistents (cheaper price because of potential inconsistency):

Light Pressure: Pass

Heavy Pressure: some scratches

Viking Chenile Mitt (no cotton sign on package):

FAIL (as you may expect)

So I guess the green Viper towels are suspect, the applicators (green from CMA) should be fine with light pressure applied. The MF Tech Elites would probably be better than the Ultras (naturally). Maybe we should wash and apply and dry with waffle weaves!:nixweiss

I know for sure that that Green Viper towel will NEVER touch my car again!!!!!!!!

I just bought some Walmart MF towels and am goin to give em a go tomorrow.

Anyone got a link to this 'walmart MF thread' ?

Just saves me hunting round for it.

I have dark green towels from MicrofiberTech and PakShak . No problems or surface marring. Work great with my black cars.:xyxthumbs

No experience with Viper MF's but the CMA MF application pad works flawlessly also.

Technique ( too much pressure, surface not totally clean of harmful debris ( can be difficult if detailing outdoors )? Variable stock? Towels / Pads? Washed with liquid detergent? Dried with "Air Fluff Cycle ( high heat may melt fibers )?:nixweiss

In my opinion Micro Fiber all comes down to what type of fiber the cloth is constructed out of, either it is filament fiber or dty fiber (drawn textured fiber). The blend, 70 / 30 (polyester to polymide) or 80 / 20, really plays no roll in whether it will scratch or not.
