Anyone ever used a bucket dolly/"grit guard" like this

was reading a review of that on some website (don't know if it was here) and it fits nicely in a 5 gallon bucket they said, needed modification for a 3. also, it has a tendency to float (reviewer ended up screwing it to the side of the bucket) and it doesn't have fins on the bottom like the grit guard (potential for water to circulate out?) just feet/risers. I do like the fact you can scrub your brushes with handles better.
 
I like it. As someone who's just now found out how nice a Grit Guard is, especially using ONR, I like the idea of having more of an area to scrub the wash mitt off. What I can't understand is the need for a lid? Seriously what's the point of a lid for a car wash bucket? I've seen this one similar setups and have wondered the same thing.

some people who do a lot of washing only business might use the suds bucket from one wash for the rims of the next and then replace the water, and if they're mobile they don't want it to splash. plus its a seat sans cushion :)
 
Personally, I think the baffles in a "real" Grit Guard are more valuable than the "washboard" in that setup. The dolly doesn't look all that nice either.



I love my Grit Guard two-bucket setup a lot...
 
I made up something like this but using a square bucket. Works very well and a lot cheaper than buying a Grit Guard.

Ah I never thought of that before!
 
Been using this for almost a year now and it works great. Great casters, very durable, all around nice set up.



Downside is the bottle holders are too small for spray bottles but they do hold ketchup style bottles just fine. There is a nice tray on one side for holding sponges, brushes, etc.
