Anyone do a sealant comparison ??

The roadfly forum has one but most of the products are not sealants.

Zaino was the clear winner, NXT did poorly.

Has anyone compared Zaino to FMJ, UPP, Blackfire, Klasse ?

A long term test to compare durability, overall shine, benefits/drawbacks, etc.

I think this would be useful. I was going to get NXT until I read the roadfly test.

We sorta are always doing sealant tests, really. I think there have been some side-by-side threads on here somewhere.....

Anyone?

Thanks for the link!

There was a post a little while back where people were posting their reviews for their favorite sealants. A search here will yield hundreds of threads dealing with product reviews/comparisons.

I would discourage you from not trying a product (NXT) based on a single internet forum unless the overall concensus is that it's causing damage, etc. Everyone's entitled to their opinion - You might think something totally different based on your color/weather/application method/product bias.

Unfortunately, the test in the link didn't include Blackfire, Klasse, or a few others that really should have been. From personal experience, Blackfire would have been impressive in durability and appearance.

I have friends who had similar results with NXT so I'm not going to bother.

I have a sample of UPP on the way so I'm going to do my own comparison test. One panel UPP and one Z2.

I'd really like to try FMJ. properautocare.com has a good review.

But $40 is too much just to try a product. I've spent too much already.

It says Pinnacle Souveran and P21S Pure Carnauba Paste Wax dulled the finish. Interesting since a lot of folks like to top products thinking they are getting a better finish. I had heard Zaino was too slick to be topped. But Klasse can take a carnauba wax.

Well said...and the point about climate conditions cannot be overstated. In Denver we have brutal sun ..tons of dust and just enough occasional rain to make a real mess. A product that holds up here might not do as well in the South East with constant high humidity.

When they say YMMV....they mean it :)

I've tried topping FMJ with s100 and Pinnacle and didn't notice any difference. It may have dulled it slightly, but definitly didn't improve it's looks.

Its a little expensive but that bottle with last forever

Climate conditions do have an impact on product durability but its impossible to accurately simulate them in test. Just think about how expensive it would be to replicate most of the weather conditions in the US in one test.

The best thing to do when comparing products is to devise a repeatable test methodology and subject the products objectively as possible. The specific conditions are not as important as the fact that all products tested are subjected to them equally.

As for weather conditions, high heat and dust/particulates are about as tough as they come. Arizona and the desert SW is brutal on car care products because of temp and abrasion.
