Anyone able to top OC2.0 with Z-2 Pro?

I've been successful at topping my OC2.0 with HD Poxy (apparent by different water beading pattern after Poxy applied) but was gonna dip my feet in Lake Zaino. Has anybody tried this with success, or much less be able to do consecutive layers of Z-2 Pro on top of OC2.0?

Also, is it really necessary to mix Z-2 Pro with ZFX if you're just gonna do a layer every 1-3 months anyway? It sounds like that product is aimed at people wanting to do 10 layers of Zaino in a weekend. The site states that it will "harden" Z-2, but does Z-2 harden on its own over time and this is just boasting that it helps it cure faster for multiple layers, or does it actually chemically produce a Z-2 with better durability?

In theory once OC has catalyzed you should be able to top with whatever you like. Just keep in mind its durability might be hindered and the beading/sheeting patterns will change to whatever is on the top most layer.

That's what I was thinking, but there are quite a few nay-sayers to being able to top OC2.0 with much durability :nixweiss

Eh, I already have OC2.0 on my DD that I use to test out new products on, I was just curious if it would all be in vain since I'm not going to polish off the OC2.0 for the sake of boredom & testing an already thoroughly tested product :)

Yea I can understand either using just OC or just zaino, just give it a shot though and let us know. SHould be easy to tell if the beading sheeting is different from one to the next.

I added a couple drops of blue food colouring to my syringe of OC2.0 and turned it into a miracle product.

:-)

Never have had protection issues w Zaino over the last 8 years. Unless you are running it and another lsp 50/50 you don't have the same conditions to compare it to.

I'm with you gmblack. Also never had protection issues for 6 years W/Zaino.

I do pressure washes or reg washes 2X/week. This keeps my car(s) fairly clean.

I also have a Z-6, an M34, or a 50/50 isp and a MF in my cars at all times for those bombs.

Early detection and cleanup is the key.

I too prefer Zaino on its own and have never had any issues with protection or durability.

Zaino will also bond on its own without ZFX but if you want to layer it without waiting 24 hours it s best to use the ZFX.

You can top the OC2.0 with whatever you want, just don't expect the same durability out of it. For testing purposes I topped my car with UPGP just to see if it would last very long...after 3-4 weeks and several washes there was still signs of life which was more than enough for me.

After talking to Sal for a little bit, it sounds like ZFX is there to enhance Z-2 or Z-5 as a stronger LSP overall (not *only* to produce faster curing for multiple applications). I'm going to conduct my own little experiment to see how well Zaino can hold on top of OC2.0 (against professional advice, but remember this is just an experiment out of boredom and curiosity). I already have Poxy on top of the OC2.0 right now and (weather permitting) will check durability later today.

I did a Z-2 detail on my car for the first time in a couple years. I forgot how well Z-2 looked and that is what I am after. How will compare to my favorite POXY I'll let you know after I get a couple more coats on and can get it in the sunshine.... Rainy day here. I don't drive it in the rain The RX8 takes a nap during the rain.

Durable, yes. Physical protection, ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Yep, while I'm a huge fan of Z2's looks, the only times I've had etching issues are when I've been using Zaino. I almost always get bird/bug bombs off the paint within 24 hours and maybe its just bad luck, but I always have issues with Z2/Z5. I swore off the stuff for DD's and then a few months ago I used it again, and got a nice etching on the hood that took 3 or 4 passes with UNO to get off.

I'm almost to the point of Just using Z6/Z8 on top of something else as I can get 90% of the Zaino look with a stronger base underneath.
