Anybody watch "Modern Marvels" last night on the History Channel?

Yeah, that poor Porsche! I noticed the camera didn't really show that egg spot either. But, what can you expect - they should have found a real detailer instead of a company rep. I laughed at the reference to Paul Dalton as "one detailer in the UK charges $9000.00 per car and doesn't do interiors". But the best was the "16% of all car owners never wash their car" I believe that one, I've done some of their cars!

I only watched the end of it with the preparation for cars to go through a car wash. I missed a good chuckle, i wonder if it will be on again.

LOL

Yeah I watched it! I logged on today to post about it but you beat me by 5 hours hahaha :D

I almost cried when he was doing all those thing to the Porsche, especially the eggs:bawling: Just goes to show you what good protection can do!!:cooleek:

I stopped going to car washes about 4 years ago but that gigantic car wash in the beginning of the piece was something else! If there was one by me I might be tempted (to take a friends car ;)), I know my kids would love it :)

How about that guy with the brillo wash pad? Talk about cringing.

What kind of old car was the rep standing next to? the paint was incredible.

I saw part of it, and this statistic was a bit discouraging. I guess it just shows why it is so hard to find good customers who will pay for quality detailing services.

I agree it was discouraging to see that statistic that so few people wash/care for their vehicles.

The was one bright spot I remember...where they said if you want your car just clean go to a car wash but if you want it to keep looking like you just bought it bring it to a detailer. Was at least encouraging to see somebody differentiate between car washing and detailing ...

No lie, my friends mom has a jeep grand cherokee that she told me she has never washed in the 5 years she has owned it. It amazingly still looks pretty decent too, she is about to trade it in on a g37 sedan when they are released i think. Hopefully i can convince her to let me take care of it for her.

i have to say that this was like a snake oil sales pitch :secret. 1) the car has protection on it to begin with. 2) what they did was not "real life" conditions. it's like the guy at car events that drops acid on the hood of the car, etc., etc., etc.. JMHO.
