I saw a thread about this and decided to give it a try. The drill is a Makita 6347 18V; it seems sturdy enough for the job. I got a 5" adapter from Home Depot and some stick-on velcro backing for the adapter. I then attached a Lake Country 6.5" white polishing pad.
The drill has two speed settings: 0-300, and 0-1300 (the trigger varies the speed). I was nervous about doing this so I used the 300 rpm speed only, with Meguiar's #9.
No damage was done. But it also did nothing for the light scratches/swirls/spiderwebbing. Also, this being my first experience with a rotating pad, I found out it is a lot harder to control than I expected.
Anybody with experience - what pads and speed do you use with this setup?
