Any point to following up 205 with an even gentler polish?

Hey guys,

I'm still doing a lot of research on what polishes to purchase. I'm probably set on 105/205 but am wondering if you could go even further with any real results.

Specifically, I know that 205 isn't Meguiar's most gentle polish. I also know that it is unigrit so its polishing capabilities are not getting any finer as you go on. With that said, would it make a difference to go further on a Black vehicle?

Specifically, I'm looking into M03 Machine Polish. And the process would go Orange CCS + 105, Green CCS + 205, White CCS + M03.

Questions:

1) Will this make any notable difference on a black car?

2) Will I have to "work in" the product or can I just go over panels with a few passes and be done with it?

Menzerna P085rd. On black cars you will usually need a fine polish depending on if the paint is soft or tacky or what . . . . . usually people use a polish like 85rd to jewel the paint and make sure that there are no traces of holograms and things of that nature in the paint.

vtec, I'm trying to stay away from Menzerna because of the price. And am trying to stick with meguiars... because of the price :)

then look at ultrafina or the cheaper menzerna FPII (micropolish 87mc)

Man, people STILL use Ultrafina? It's no longer the 'cool' polish like it was a year ago.

I dont even use it, just suggested it as a finer polish. I personally use FPII.

I here you about the price of Menzerna but the consensus seems to be that it is the best at that final step on a dark colored car so I bit the bullet and bought a bottle, autogeek has 85rd on sale right now for 30.00 for a good sized bottle that should last a while.

It will depend on the paint. Most of the time M205 finishes down great and I don't see a noticeable improvement by following with a less aggressive polish. However, on some paints, especially softer ones like my Acura, 3M UF or PO85RD does improve the finish noticeably. I usually go with UF. ;)

menzerna for a reason! I did a side by side with just 205 and then 205 and 85rd and there was a dramatic difference in gloss and clarity!

205 is non-diminishing, so there is no refinement with it. IMO, you have to finish it with another fine polish, or at least CGEZC/DWG
