I'm sorry, but i dont know where to post for a thread having to do with paint. My friend has a prob with his car and i thought maybe someone on here could help. Heres his post from another forum
"to make a long story short, i had some parts painted for my car (fg rear bumper, sideskirts, and fenders. The prob is that the paint job really sucked and to top it off, the painter added a layer of clear coat basically on all my panels (doors, hood, trunk etc) without my knowledge. I guess this might have been his way of blending the car? I mean honestly, the car looks like total crap. I mean, you can see the same pearl color on the car when you look directly close up, but its as if it got blurry, and the pearl is less visible. I removed all the parts from the car and put the stock stuff back on, but now the panels look totally different in color. From the looks of it, its because of that layer of clearcoat they added. My question is, will any amount of buffing or sanding be able to remove what they did to the car or does everything just have to be repainted? When i shine light from panel to panel, the pearl is still the same color but you can obviously see that the clearcoat they put is dull or blurry. The panels that were touched are lighter than the stock paint in the sun and darker under fluorescent light. After a bunch of yelling, i was told that all the painter did was add clearcoat to all the panels. Does applying a thicker clearcoat dull the color somehow? Oh, my car is dark blue and under the sun, the touched panels look bluish greenish and the finish looks all scratched up. Any paint experts out there with some advice?"
