Anyone in the Vancouver/Burnaby area want to buff this guys swirl marks (paid, of course)? (or as a last resort a reputable detailer) Post here please, thanks. I saw his post on vwVortex and I figured I post here for him.

Thanks,

Steve

Which product is your friend planning on using? I am having a hard time looking for good products in the area.

I'm thinking of buffing my car myself. If your friend doesn't mind me using his car as an experiment... :)

I'm "the friend" from VW Vortex he's referring to :)

I have a Black 97 Golf VR6 that has some pretty annoying swirls all over the paint.. I'm looking for someone local (Vancouver, BC, Canada -- I'm actually located in Burnaby) or a shop that can get rid of these swirls...

The swirls aren't that bad, but how do you quantify it? I can notice them, but especially because they are on a black car. I would like to go somewhere to have them "repaired", then have a good shine and wax job. I don't want to just take it to anybody to have their grubby hands on it :)

I actually got the same problem on my car, I can see them in direct sunlight. Anyway, I'm going to try and get rid of them myself... where is Lordco? I live around the oakridge area.

Well.. it depends on whether you want to spend ~$100 to $200 to get it repaired or do it yourself and spend $20- $40 and one afternoon.( if you have the time)

You can always send me an e-mail, and i can come help you out on the car if you want...

Anyway.. the sun is goion to be gone tomolo... so maybe you won't see the swirls anyway later :) heheh
Can you feel the swirls with your hands or fingernail ?
Or do you just see them ?

Where is Lordco? Hope this helps.

Irvin: The swirls aren't that noticeable to touch from waht I can tell.. I'll have to check the car tommorow to double check. I'm not confident doing this on my own, hence the reason I want to bring it somewhere or to someone who knows 100% what they are doign. I don't want to create more swirls.

Well.. everyone on the board would do it themself, and it's really not that hard.. and it really feels good to have the transformed to a great shiny swirl-free car knowing that you did it yourself... people on this forum would agree.

If you still feel like you wanna get someone else to do it..
there's a place in north vancouver,
http://www.softouchdetailing.com/

If I was to do it myself, what products would you recommend? I've heard people recommend the products by Klasse and Blitz wax, but I don't think you can get either of those in Canada (or at least in lower mainland).

I've basically got all most of the products from ordering through the internet.. but the taxes are soo high.. it's crazy...

it costed my almost $100 to get the klasse twins and some towels.. If you wanna order them.. order them in one shot and unlike me. i ordered everthing in 3-4 orders..

oh ya.. for swirls..

get the 3M swirl remover for dark coloured cars from lordco.. i just got mine from them..

you need that to remove the swirls since klasse and blitz will not remove them for you.

I ordered my detailing accessories from www.motorhead.net. You get shipping charge free for the frist order, and I didn't need to pay any tax and duty. I even got free stuff from them. For clay bar, I got those from Canadian tire. It is around 25 CAD for Mothers Clay bar system (include clay bar, quick detailer and small bottle of cleaner wax). Some NAPA/UAP carry 3M SMR and FI2 in lower mainland.

I would like to order from autopia but they won't ship to Canada at this time. :(

What is 3M "SMR"?

Also, what step/order should I be applying these products in? I'm imagining something like a cleaner wax, then swirl remover, then a finishing top wax?

I've found 303 at Lordco, but I think the bottle I bought was sitting on the shelf for 2 years because when I opened it up there were pieces of dry film on the top, kind of how milk dries and a film developes on the top of it if you leave it out...

Have you guys found 303 for sale anywhere else other than Lordco? I can't find Plexus anywhere either... :(

Plexus is like the number one seller of Autopia's sponsor (CMA) click on the symbol in the upper right hand corner, click on Glass and Plastic.

<em class='bbc'>oh wait this is a post about Canada, (duh) maybe not.[/i]
