I was looking at them & i notice they offer a polishing, cutting pad are there any differences between foam & wool which is obvious. I know the wool generates more heat but how is its cutting/polishing ability?

I have a wool, for the PC, and only tried it once. I did not like it and it did not impress me at all. Maybe I just need more time to practice with it?

When used with a PC, the wool is only slightly more aggressive than a foam cutting pad. It may/may not cause more micromarring. It's not like it's a huge jump in aggressiveness; it doesn't turn it into a semi-rotary or anything. More of a time-saver than anything else, IMO.

Some people *really* like wool for rotary work and do great things with it. But I haven't tried that combo....sounds like something that requires a lot of experience and care to do properly. Do it wrong and you're gonna get holograms.

Oh, and opinions seem to vary as to whether wool causes more or less heat than foam.

I was at a recent Meguiars seminar and the instructor used wool occasionally; looked fairly straightforward. He even used it on my scrap fenders. When I practiced however, bye bye paint . Speeds were low, pad was flat too. I better get more scrap if I really want to practice with wool :(

I have a whole stack of cutting and polishing wool pads for my rotary. Thats what we used to use before foam pads became popular. They are pretty easy to work with. But they are also easy to "burn" or hologram paint if you arent careful. Almost more fun because it is more of a challenge than a PC and a foam pad.
