Any HD Free users?

There doesn't seem to be much conversation about HD Free.

Is that because it isn't popular?

How about some comments from users as to how they like the product.

Our weather has not been good and I haven't used it much, but so far I have been less than impressed.

It very well could be a user problem, but I have been using Poorboy's Spray & Wipe for several years without any problems.

The HD Free seems to be more "grabby" for lack of a better term and I seem to have to make several wiping/drying passes to remove the residue that it seems to leave behind.

Since the HD Free contains a wax and the S&W doesn't, the difference due to removal of that wax may be what is giving me the problem.

I do not let the product dry. I spray a panel and wipe that panel with a MF towel, then switch to another MF towel for the finish/polishing wipe.

The vehicle was only lightly dirty/dusty.

55 degree day in a 65 to 70 degree garage.

Comments?

Suggestions?

I recently purchased a bottle. When I first tried it, I think I was spraying to much. I started to lightly mist the truck and spray my micro-fiber towel. This for me seemed to work alot better. Hope that helps.

Care to elaborate?

Didn't clean, difficult to use, don't like waterless washing?

I guess it's fine for very light duty cleaning (basically dusty)...

From their website:

HD FREE Waterless Car Wash Lotion is a complete vehicle wash system for regular light cleaning of all vehicle surfaces...

It reads rather funny to me. "Regular light cleaning," is a bit ambiguous.

As far waterless washing goes, i really like the concept but not keen on how

many folks are using ONR and the like. I just don't see how dirt particles are

magically encapsulated BEFORE your ONR dipped wash mitt hits the panel.

At the very least, a presoak or a prerinse should be done.

I'm more for less-water wash methods. And it's only a matter of time til

someone comes out with a better product than what we currently have now.

Here's a very good thread: http://www.autopia.org/forum/high-definition-car-care/123376-power-waterless-auto-washer-cheap.html

Using only 3.5 gallons of water IS being very conservative and eco-conscious.

I just ordered some HDFree when they had their free ecowipes promo. I'll post back after I've used it. I do like ONR, used it recently on the wife's DD and it was simple to use but I wasn't so worried about marring as it needs a good polishing anyhow. I agree with flashtime, HDFree seems like it has more of a chance to "encapsulate" dirt than the ONR since its actually on the surface before you wipe, but I've seen videos of people washing with ONR w/o scratching :nixweiss

I think of and use most waterless wash products as QDs on steriods, ie for situations needing more than a QD but not needing an ONR or full on shampoo wash.

Thanks for the comments.

Keep them coming.

As far as the waterless, rinseless washes are concerned, I'm quite comfortable with them on vehicles that are not heavily soiled.

I have been using Poorboy's Spray & Wipe, (Waterless), for about 8 years and QEW, ONR, DP RW&G, (Rinseless) for 2 or 3 and have had good results with all of them.

The HD Free Concentrate was priced at 40% off for a time and I felt having a product that would make 5 gallons of waterless wash for less than $20 shipped was a deal I couldn't pass up.

I have only been able to use the HD Free about 3 times and I haven't decided yet how I feel about it.

As I mentioned in my first post, it could be the way I am using it.

Spray on, wipe gently with one MF, finish with another clean MF, works great with PB's S&W. but a slightly different method might work better with the HD Free. The spray & wipe method seemed to leave some hazing/streaking to be removed after the HD Free. I will try doing a smaller area to make sure I didn't let it dry before I removed all of it. It was cool and in the shade and I didn't leave it on the vehicle more than a minute before the final wipe. Same way I use the PB's S&W.

That's why I was looking for some comments on other users experiences.

More info, please.

i am a fan of HD Free. it is like a super duper quick detailer.

but as the OP said, it does leave a bit of residue after the first couple wipes but i guess that's how it helps prevent marring or whatever.

i noticed that if i use it when the weather is too cold like 50 degrees F or less, it is a pain in the butt to remove. But at like 70 to 80 F, it works like a dream.

The only thing i think it is lacking is the extra power to get rid of my stupid bugs on the front of my car. When its really bad, i simply ONR it. But i still like to use it like a day or two after i wash my car.

I plan on trying some HD Free soon myself.

Can this be used on a wet car?

I plan on rinsing my car down with a pressure washer and then spraying on HD Free when the car is still wet. Is this an effective method?

I don't see why it wont work but that is not the reason behind HD Free, its a waterless wash, if your going to use water might as well grab a bucket and soap.

Their web-site says this:

"HD FREE can be used as a single step drying agent and quick wax after pressure washing. Mist one panel at a time as you dry."

I understand this but I am looking to cut down the time of my washes. Using this will also allow me to cut down on water usage.

The language says otherwise but take the "light cleaning" part to heart. And for

$12 bucks, it wont break the bank to try.

HD TOTAL is excellent stuff. Very versatile and the smell is great too.

HD POXY looks great and is extremely easy to use.

HD FREE...i'll pass on this product. It's mediocre...
