Any detailers here with Tinnitus?

Player Appreciate!
Just curious if other detailers here have Tinnitus? Detailing can be a noisy pursuit, so just wondering if any others are in the same boat?

What did you say???

I've got it from too many years in the radio and concert industry, but no effects from detailing. Now, if we were talking back trouble from detailing it would be a different story.....

Not really a detailer, but definitely have Tinnitus.
Wear ear plugs or muffs and you can avoid a lot of the problem. I didn't.
Construction, snowmobiles, noisy motorcycles, loud music, I did it all without the earplugs. Not a smart move on my part.

Get a roll around stool to do wheels/tires and the lower panels. I couldn't take care of my vehicles without one. Unless of course I had a lift, hmmmm......

Don't consider, do it.
There's lots of types and you should be able to find some that are easy to use and comfortable. I have the foam ones in every jacket I wear and some plastic ones on a cord hanging in the garage. Now that the damage is done, I wear them regularly. I guess it does prevent further damage so it's not a total waste.

Yep.
Want to go in partnership on one? We could keep it in my garage and you could use it anytime you wanted.

Yup... right now its the only way I could detail anything. Currently dealing with one ruptured and one severly herniated disk, two severly bulging disks, and a 4mm vertebrae fragment floating around the region causing all kinds of fun trouble.

And back on-topic, detailing's like a zen thing for me... seems like I don't hear much of anything.

I don't even know what it means, so I guess that's a good thing? lol
I am around loud race cars, Harleys, dirtbikes, generators, stuff like that all the time. I should invest in some ear plugs while it's still worth while!

If we end up bulding a shop on my grandpas property, we'll consider a lift. If we do go both routes, you're more than welcome to come us it

i am 31 and have some hearing loss already from working in a dealership garage area for 12 years. riding my harley doesn't help either. i ue earplugs now on the bike and ear muffs at work wjen someone is using an air chisel. using a compresser to dry off an engine or rims is very bad to do without protection.as for other precautions, i always use a roller chair when needed, lowers on cars, rims, dent removal. never bend at waist. asking for back problems and if you squat too much your knees will hate you. i wish i did this stuff 10 years ago. it is never too early to take care of your back and joints.

Seems like I am in good company! Unfortunately, my youth caught up to me quick last year and I had to seek more quiet pursuits (and a quieter ride)... even a PC can drive my ears nuts.

But I know what you mean about the whole 'zen' thing. To the outside observer, it may look silly claying and putting PB wheel sealant on my rims... but it is amazing how "lost" one can get in doing it.
