Ants Ants Ants Ants!!

Tex Star Detail

Formerly TexasTB
I have ants in my house. They are out of control!!
Red ants at that.
If you leave a crumb on the floor, they come in by the hundreds in a straight line to it. Mostly in the kitchen, of course. I had to throw away a few bags of chips that were folded over and clamped down with a clothes pin. They even chewed a hole through an unopened bag of chips. I unscrewed the peanut butter jar lid, and they were having a party in there!!! They even dug tunnels. It looked like an ant farm. Cool and un-cool at the same time.

They are killing me.... I get bit all the time, as well as the rest of the family. Lately I seen a few in the carpet in the living room and my laundry room. When the kids put clothes in the laundry room, they like to throw the clothes on the floor. When I pick them up, ants are all through whatever is on the floor.

SOoooooo.....

what can I buy to stop them from coming in??? I put a few ant traps down...HAHAHA, what a joke. I need something for in the house, around the house, and my yard. I want them all dead.
I need something good and lasts. I have kids, so whatever it is, has to be safe.
My legs look like I have some sort of disease from the bites....lol

Help me out!!!

Call Centex, Chris.. If the infestation is as bad as you describe only a complete home treatment will quell your problems.

Get a professional in there...and I don't mean ope you see on tv....I had a problem with Carpenter Ants, and I called Terminix, they did nothing, got a local guy and he got rid of them all.

I'd say that you probably want to call someone too. That sounds pretty bad and I wouldn't want to dump a lot of money into a bunch of chemicals that don't work.

Other than keeping the house spotless, they come in if there is the simplest thing o the floor.
I have to treat a few mounds in the yard....again.

I kill one mound, and they pop up 5 feet away. Horrible after a rain storm, looks like a mountain range.
Looks like I will try some boric acid then call a pro.

speaking of that, I was doing a fleet job today. When I left my trailer to bring another vehicle around, I seen 2 guys looking in my trailer. They were spraying the grass at the business, they were from the local pest control place here in Killeen.

After we got to talk about ants, they started talking about my trailer and how busy I am. Seems they take their vehicles to another detailer here in town. Which they say is a PITA to do, since it is on the other side of town. I said I can possibly match the price and come to them. hahaha
I may have another fleet contract with 10+ vehicles.
Going to talk to the owner this week about how they can benefit from my services compared to driving each vehicle to the other shop and waiting.

Save on gas, truck down time, employee's getting paid to sit at a shop and wait, etc.....

I unscrewed the peanut butter jar lid, and they were having a party in there!!! They even dug tunnels. It looked like an ant farm. Cool and un-cool at the same time.

Looks like you have two choices ..call in an exterminator & kill them:bonk: or

:hmmm: start a new ant farm business

Sheila mixes Boric acid with sugar and a little water into a paste and puts it on little pieces of cardboard. They are in all the inconspicious places of our house. Seems to work well.

We had a recent outbreak of flies in our house that got a little out of hand. They must of hatched in our house somewhere. We woke up one morning and found ourselves invaded with them. :surrender

We sent the girls around the house with fly swatters, talk about entertainment. :rofl We must have killed close to a hundred flies when we were done.

It was at that point that I said I am going to take a shower atleast once a week from now on.:D

You might try bartering for a pest control treatment. With your skills, it could become a regular detail with the benefits of being ant and pest free.

Good luck,

I hate ants. When i have a ant problem which comes every year. I located the trail and follow it to where the ants are going into the ground. Then i flood them out with Chemical that i get at Ace Hardware or Home Depot. Not premixed stuff it is the concentrate that i have to poor into my Ortho Sprayer I then triple the amount of flow rate the directions say and simply drowned them with chemical. I would try that at each mound you have. I know you folks have different ants than we do but i am certain it will work.

The problem from what I have been told when I had issues was that just killing the ones you see walking around does not do the trick. Also I was told that the ants actually know that they are missing ants and go into reproduction when alot start dying.

The guy we did did alot of searching and finally found their nest also he applied a powder which did not instantly kill the ants but gave them time to carry it on them back to the nest, thus eliminating the problem.

I also have had ant problems this summer in my kitchen. I just went to my local Walmart and got some Ortho Home Defense Max outdoor granules, it kind of looks like rock salt that you just sprinkle out from the bottle next to the house to make a barrier between you and the ants. Hose it down and your done. After that one application I have not seen a ant in the kitchen yet. If you want to try to save a buck before calling a pro I would suggest you try it. Good luck.

The big companies work on a annual contract, which may be best, but some of the locals will treat month to month with no contract.

We have been having a lot of ants in our kitchen to. But they aren't the kind that can actually bit you  . So we just kill them. My dad usually sprays some sort of chemical around the house to create a barrier like jetbo had mentioned and that usually works but since you have the biting ones and your gettin bit i would just go for the pro and get them gone fast.

Chris------->:howdy :surrender <--------Ants
