Antique tags for the Z...Bye bye DMV :)

Today I got my 300ZX inspected at the Delaware DMV and decided to have them put antique tags on it. After the lane inspectors went over it like I had an IED in it I passed the antique requirements. No more state inspections for me...Yeah Baby...:yay:yay:yay:yay

Am I really that old that a 300ZX doesn't possibly seem old enough to be an antique?

I know you won't have any problem, but do you have some restrictions on how often you can drive it? I remember talking to someone here in NJ who had QQ plates and said that technically he wasn't supposed to drive it except to and from car shows--not sure if that was the state or his insurance co.

And just to get further off topic--since cars last so much longer now I wonder if at some point cars are going to have to be older than 25 years to get "antique" plates...just like they keep raising the retirement age...

There are mileage restrictions with the antique plates. I put less than 50 miles on the car last, year so it's not an issue for me. The less I have to go to DMV the better !!!

Wow! They must be tough on vehicles in the Garden State.
When I applied for PA Classic plates for my EL Camino, I just had to send a bunch of pictures to the DMV along with the title. Nobody even verified that the VIN matched the pics. I still have to get the annual Safety Inspection, but no Emission Inspection. The real joy is the one-time $75 registration fee. Since it's titled as a truck, regular registration is now up to $60/year.

Down here in Georgia there are no longer any emissions tests (Atlanta may be an exception) or safety inspections on any cars. I actually miss the safety inspections. The cars around here have missing headlights, no tail lights, and the muffler dragging on the road, and I don't even want to get into all the people driving on the tiny spare tire!
