*Another* VM/EX-P detail (2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport)

Obsessed... who me?
Hey y'all... you're all probably sick of me posting pics of VM/EX-P details but I....must. Love this combo! Car is my brother's 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport.

Process:

Wash: Eagle One Wash

Clay: Mothers CA Gold

Polish: Poorboy's SSR2

Glaze: VM

Sealant: EX-P

Side Notes: this car was scratched to heck, especially on the rear bumpers. Looked like an animal gouged the bumper and the previous owner just went over it with touch-up paint (shudder.) Also, at some point, owner decided to re-paint front and rear numpers (pre-scratching) so the colors don't quite match and the repaint was single stage. Challenging detail to say the least and I'm afraid we couldn't do much with the rear bumper.

Anyway, some before and after pics. Not really comparable as the weather was again freaky (raining during wash, sunny right after detail turning overcast and raining again after pics) but it will give you a decent idea of the transformation.

Damn!

That looks amazing!

I'm wondering about PC or rotary as well. Does SSR2 break down enough in your opinion to go to straight to VM?

Thanks for the complements all!

Actually, all the work was done by hand. :D

As far as SSR2 breaking down, I've had mixed results. On some cars, I've found that some hazing occured and I had to follow up with SSR1. On others, I went straight to glaze. I'm not sure why the inconsistency in results... maybe differences in the hardenss of the clearcoats? :nixweiss

I will be getting a PC very soon though. IMHO, working by hand doesn't get enough press on this forum but it does take a lot of muscle to make it work well. That being said, I think the PC will save me time in the future and in some cases, will just give me results I wouldn't be able to get working by hand. Rotary will wait until I have more machine experience and have more confidence.

What did you use on the tires? Also out of curiosity what type of camera do you have, the pictures are very clear.

Looks great!

I think the clarity has to do with a good camera and the combo of VM/EX-P which leaves a very clear shine.

Tires are dressed with Poorboys BnB. Like most other dressings, the degree of shine depends on the rubber of the tire. In the pics, it's a little too glossy for my taste but not by much. BnB is one of my favorites since it's pretty versatile.

Scottwax is dead on as far as the camera and VM/EX-P. I use a Canon Powershot S400 Digital Elph and take advantage of it's several metering modes. VM/EX-P's clarity just loves being on camera as well. I just wish I had more stuff around my driveway so I could get more reflections. My sub is really new so no mature trees or anything like that. Ah well.

Also, since I've been asked before, these photos aren't touched up in Photoshop in anyway. iPhoto is used to crop and export to the proper resolution but that's it.
