Another victim of the economy

Jesus my Lord and Savior
:closed: Well the day I have been try to avoid for 5 moth is here. i have to close my company. Customers been lay-off as fast as you can blink your eye. It does not matter if you are a profesional or not. Sw florida is in bad shape. There are houses for sale for at least 2 years.

I am going to work for a dealer. Hopefully it will not bee for too long. So I want to thank all the Autopians which at one time or another has help in anyway. Thank you and God Bless.

Sorry to hear man, hopefully things will pick back up soon when the country can focus on something other than the election this fall. Things up in NE Florida are a little slower but still fortunate enough to have steady business.

it is hard. When I went for the interview today and I was told what was expected of me I almost cry. What they consider a full detail is a Mini detail for us. It is frustating when you have a standar and have to go to this. I hope this go by fast.

Thak you guys.

In whatever you do, don't compromise what you believe in. Just do the best job with whatever expectations they have.

And Keep up the Faith. The One upstairs doesn't give you things you cannot bear. You will go through it fine and brighter days will be ahead :cooleek:

sorry to hear about that, hopefully someday you can re-open your biz when the economy get better (hopefully things change with the new president). good luck on your future endeavors!

I 2nd that. Like Maria said in the Sound of Music, "When the Lord closes a door somewhere He opens a window." I've found that to be true for my business. Seems like I've been having a very long night in my personal life though, but I still know joy comes in the morning.

Well, maybe things with the dealer can work out to your advantage.

If you show them that you can do a great detail, perhaps you can broker a better deal with them. Maybe, you can take over all of there luxury and expensive cars, as those could use a better detail.

If you can provide them with the info: This good of detail can raise the value this much, then perhaps they can work with you.

A speaker I listened to once said that the brick walls we run into while chasing our dreams are meant to be there. They are there to separate you from people who don't want it as much.

Goodluck

Do you really need to close your business, or can you continue to do it part time and service your remaining customers on weekends or your off days until it picks back up again? Good luck to you, hard workers always end up on their feet with good opportunities. I'm sure you'll do great :D

I feel your pain. Last May through July and even into August, it rained pretty much at least every other day. Another month of it and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it.

I 2nd the recommendation you try to find a way to at least keep going part time as your other job allows.

Well I wil be working 6 days a week. I will try to get at least one Saturday a month off. I was talking to 4 of my customers and they still want me to do their cars at least once a month. I guess I can do some cars after church on Sundays. Only God knows. I am sure he will guide me in what to do.

Thank you guys for your support.

I wouldn't over do it on Sunday with detailing after church, you need a day of rest, however as long as you are enjoying it...I say go for it...

Good luck, God doesn't just close doors he creates new opportunities!

amen brother, i have gone through so much this last year, but i can finally see a wall i can hurdle.

good luck brother, things will get better.

Well it has been 4 days on my new job and 15 cars later. I can't even walk. The guy working before me only did the easy ones. Now I have done 8 full details. and the rest were deliveries. I start at 7am and do not finish until 6pm. This will be 6 days a week.

At least they are very happy with my work. Goint to talk to the Services Sup. so I can get permission to re-arrange the bays and get some self reeling cords.(for safety reasons)

Don't let them take advantage of you. If you are knocking it out, then ask for more cash. If not they will work you to death.

I wish you the best.

Just to add a sense of balance, here in Central Indiana things are fine, just fine.

We increased our pricing by 15% and volume is up at least 10%.

While the overall economy may be down, our targeted demographic is not affected.

I would guess the same is tue in SW Florida (Naples is doing fine, for example.)

Jim, I will agree that my targeted clients are not feeling the effects. Since I am mobile I increase my prices with each new client to cover the increased fuel costs.
