another thread on QEW

I've read all of the old threads on QEW and tried it yesterday. I was amazed at how dirty the water becomes. I washed my car using 2 buckets, both filled with 1 gallon of QEW (one for washing, the other to rinse my mit). Both became absolutely black (my car didn't seem that dirty:eek: ). On my wifes car, I used three buckets (2 with QEW, one with plain water). With this approach, the 2nd bucket (rinse with QEW) became black while the plain water and wash bucket were only "brown".

I'm not sure what's in QEW but it must have some serious surfactants in it that trap the dirt and hold it in solution. That would explain why the water gets so dirty looking. My concern was that the "dirty" water would scratch the car, although I've no complaints in this regard with prior posts. If it really sequesters the dirt into solution without the risk of scratching than its a truely remarkable product. One other thought, if it attacks and holds dirt with such vigor is there any chance that it also attacks wax in the same way? The bottle says that it doesn't remove wax but I don't necessarily believe everything that I read especially from a product sold at an RV store ;)

While no expert, I have had good luck with basically a 2 bucket system. One with 1/2 gallon of the QEW solution, one with plain water for rinsing the chenille covered sponge I use. Then I use a different sponge for the wheels. Same QEW, same rinse water. In my case, at no time was my car what I would consider really dirty. With QEW or Spray & Wipe, a truly dirty car goes to the spray wand wash first, to get the heavy crud off. To the best of my knowledge, no new scratches or swirls have been caused by either product.

Not only do we have to keep track of all the acronyms, but we need a dictionary, too!

RBorge, nice vocab! Seriously, your use of the word "sequesters" is outstanding.
