My 2nd Brinkman light went the same way as the first. It is too bag because I really liked the 2 light set up but it did not last in extremely lite use. I think the batteries are the issue and it will not charge at all. A quick Google search shows I am not alone with these crapping out.

I can not find the manufacturers on-line anyone happen to know the 800 number?

What's everyone using for a swirl finder light these days?

Thanks

I don't know if you have a newer Brinkman, but the old one I had from maybe 10 years ago, it was impossible to find a new battery for that, not to mention it wasn't really made to be opened up, I think I wound up breaking part of the case just trying to get to the battery, I wound up just throwing it out (because I couldn't get a battery).

I have had two older Brinkmans fail to charge on me. I ended up just throwing them out as well. I ended up picking up the Flex light.

Costco also sells a Duracell 500 and 1000 lumen flashlight. Both single diode. Only bad thing is the strobe setting.

How did you even open it? Might try Popping the front off or separating the housing. If not I will buy something else. Write and email and left a message lets see if customer service is alive at Brinkman.

If you want a great swirl finder light check out the Fenix TK11. That thing is a torch. Thankfully work bought mine and it has "double duty" :)

It was a couple of years ago but I think there were some screws in the handle, and the front where the bulbs are pulled off, but there was a c-shaped piece along the "barrel" that snapped into both halves and I had to break off the tabs to get it off.

what about those stores that "have a battery everything"? find a battery, we can always find a way through the plastic to get to it.

I think I did find a battery, but it was about $30 shipped so it didn't seem worth it.

bought the 500 for work and use it just about everyday..love it. got my son the 1000 and he'll turn around after leaving home if he doesn't have his with him. bright lights. i also made one one using a 12 volt drill that i converted to a light. there's a post on how to do it if anyone can find it.

Called their customer service, and you must punch in your phone number to get a call back and enter your time zone on all hand help light customer service issues. Called at 11AM, called back at 4:45PM to left 2nd message and the automated system pretty much says, we already have your number, we call people back in the order of the calls we receive BLA BLA BLA. Got a call at 8PM last night. Sent an email. after I saw the mixed call. I was charging my phone so today we start all over.

Called this morning at 7:50 My time and you cannot log a CS call back until after they open. Pick up your CS phone when your open and allow people to log call back when your closed.

So far not impressed with the light or the customer service.

Since the old style had a ni-cad battery there is no use trying to replace it. Both of mine failed over time so they just got thrown in the trash. Replace it with something more modern and move forward.

I just ordered the Rupes Swirl Finder pen which promises to be very good. I had two brinkmann's prior both of them went bad. Both the Flex and rupes lights have very good reviews.

I purchased the Rupes light. It's great. Wish it was not so pricey I want to put one in each car. It's bright, focusable and compact.

Dear Pat & Driver

Would you recommend the Fenix for white vehicles? I used a cheap and bright light I bought on eBay and it blows out the white so much that I can't see anything.

I used a Rupes on White and white pearl. it works fine. Better on dark colors but it shows the defects.

I have never tried my Fenix on white paint. It's super bright and I can see the where it might wash out on white paint. Have you looked into the Flex light ??
