Well I did the Chevy on Monday afternoon - - Did this back in March which can be seen here:

The owner took it through the woods, to the sand dunes, etc...Modded it during the summer, deep scotch brite marks on the hood, and overspray all over from painting the underbody with all panels exposed :(

Process was:

Clay

Hi-Temp EC via Orange cyclo pads

Blackfire Finishing Polish/OP mix via Cyclo green pads

Z6 Wipedown

Z5Pro

Z8 Final Wipedown

ASD on all trim/tires

Wheel wells recieved CD-2 Engine Detailer

Next up the GMC I did last night...97 I believe? Heavily swirled, contaminants, bugs galore...

Was only suppose to be a simple clean up/wax but I decided to go all out because the guy is very nice - - Also showed interest in having his wife's suburban done as well as his 06 Saleen Mustang :)

Process was:

Hi-Temp Extreme cut/OP mix via yellow cyclo pads

Blackfire Finishing Polish/ Optimum Compound mix via cyclo green pads

Z6 wipedown

Z5Pro

Z8 for final wipe

Trim recieved Meguiars All Season Dressing

Metal Trim was treated with Vanilla Moose

Headlights got Meguairs PlastX

Wheel Wells get CD-2 Engine Detailer and rear recieved Instant Shine from TOL

Bugs were removed with Poorboys bug squash, Liquid Wrench, and plastic razor blade

*Note...The GMC didnt turn out perfect as I was being paid for only a simple wash/wax cleanup...But I wanted to give the customer a little more for their money to prove my skill level to him so I decided to go a step further and turn it into a real detail...The Chevy Silverado scotchbrite marks were minimized with 3000 grit wetsanding..however I didnt want to get too aggressive on it as I know the owner did the scotchbrite for *minutes* scrubbing hard. Any ideas how to remove the heavy overspray that could not be removed via clay? The hood and roof still need a little more attention. Thanks for the help...Free free to leave questions/comments! Thanks guys -Josh

Stellar work!!!

How do you like the EC/OP mix? Followed with BF?

To remove heavy overspray, go with wetsanding...Usually anywhere from 2000-3000 grit should do just fine.

Thank you Sean, Bob, and wifehatescar! I love the EC/OP mix followed by Blackfire....as you can see in the pictures it made quick work of these heavy swirls even via cyclo. In the after pictures you can still see some of the deeper swirls remaining as I only did the EC/OP x1 on the vehicle. Im sure if I would have went over the areas again with the mix it would have came out near perfect, however again with the type of detail this was I just made it look better than its original state.

Blackfire, is probably the best finishing polish I have ever used! I just ordered some more today in fact! Previously Ive used FPII, OP, and Meguiars #80. The price might tend to scare people away....but I found a little bit goes a long way!

Thanks for the suggestion for wetsanding the overspray...It's unfortunate that this is what its going to take...
