I was using my Sonüs DAS Blue Foam Pad with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Paint Polish about 3 weeks ago and Sonus Final Finish (SFX-3) pad 2 weeks ago to apply 845.... and I did not wash them, am I in big trouble? I put in separe bags, I did not clean my Buffing Bonnet either :hairpull

I found a lot of info how to take care of pads but I did not do it......

can I fix it?

Thanks zippymbr

Should I worry about "sticky" backing? Is it ok to soak it for long time?

 I'm not familiar witch Charlie's soap - is it something special?

thanks

I've soaked my Excel pads in water/Dawn mix for several hours and haven't had a problem with the backing. In regards to Charlie's soap, I think you have to get it online.

thanks toml

since you are one of the few answering my post, I want to ask you if you are familiar with Mother's PowerPolish - I have frends car to work on -blach It has very light scraches. Also have DAS pads which one would be good to start with.

thanks

I'm not familiar with PowerPolish, but it looks like you've gotten a response from another Autopian who is (this thread). In another thread , ebpcivicsi said PowerPolish is slightly less abrasive than SSR 2.5, and AlexRuiz said it is as strong as the pad you use. So, in the tradition of using the least aggressive approach first, I'd try the polish first with your Sonus green pad. If you don't see any improvement in the light scratches after polishing with the green pad, then move up to your orange pad.

Hope that helps :)

Yhea I did some reading, :)

I will go with green first.

I see some people post large pictures, I was able to figure out only how to attach photos to the post so far but you have to click it to see it :)

DavidB posted Autopia Guide to Detailing, V4.00 BETA at the home page for some reason I cannot use password that I got with CD - older version. Any thoughts?

I upload my pictures to the gallery here at Autopia. This thread gives great info on how to post your pictures in a thread. The only thing I found is that I can't copy the location (URL) of the image into the posting but have to type it in manually. For pictures in the Autopia gallery, the URL includes the .../gallery/data/500/medium... The "medium" displays the nice sized pictures in your posting.

I'd PM or email him directly with your issue.

No residue left behind, no need for extra softners in regular launrdy, cleans everything! I was having a problem with stains on my MF's. They would just not come clean. I bought a gallon of Charlie's soap on a recomendation from this forum. One gallon does 128 loads!

sweet :)

I may look into it :)

Hey if it smells ok too, I can make my wife pay for it :)

I spend a lot on my detailing stuff over last month and i still got to get some more STUFF :)

Your wife will love the stuff. It has little to no scent but it does a great job cleaning her unmentionables and gym clothing that she wants washed delicately.

The pads will probably still wash right out, but in the future, it'd be best to wash them right after you're done using them, before the product gets a chance to dry in the pad.

I've also allowed my Propel pads to soak for several hours in warm water, with no ill effects.

I washed them with dove yesterday night, one I used with polish DAS pad came out very nice, second which I used with 845 still has some wax residue. I probably did not soak them long enough. I am not really concern about some wax-residue any more, or should I be? I checked pads and did not find any hard dirt - wax only - I never dropped them or lay on the ground kept them in zip bag - with some holes for air.

:)

Nah, I would't worry about it. Especially with the 845. The next time you use it, just massage the new 845 into the pad and it should soften up the old residue anyhow. You might try using a toothbrush on the pad first, it could get some of the old residue to "powder" and come out, but at any rate this has never been a problem for me.
