Can any one help? I have a good friend staying with me after cleaning her car I noticed her aluminum rims (98 saturn) they appear to have some type of film on them and the yellowish color will not come off using traditional meathods of cleaning. Also she is from Canada many salty cold winters.

I would first hit them with a wheel cleaner like A2Z wheel cleaner and then agitate them with a brush. Dont use a strong brisseled brush. something soft. If that doesnt yeild anything then I would clay the wheels ( do a search on clay to find more). A good product that woudl restore the wheels most likely woudl be mothers billet polish. You can find the A2Z wheel Cleaner and the mothers billet polish at any napa or autoparts store. You might also find clay there to. Good luck

Maybe you could try some Mother's Aluminum Polish on the wheels to try and bring back the shine.
