Aluminum polishing.

Hey guys. Fairly new to the site and I have learned so much just reading. Thanks to you all I have started making some $ with my trusty PC on the weekends.. I do have a job lined up this weekend involving aluminum polishing (tanks & wheels on a big rig.) I do not own a Makita or a Dewalt but I do have a Milwaukee HD rotary one speed. My question is, where can I find the DW849 or the 9227c by Sat?My local Home Depot/Lowes does not have them. If I cannot find the 2 units, the Milwaukee should be just fine for the high speed aluminum polishing, correct? Thanks.

What speed does the Makita spin at?

If you have any PBE stores/jobbers in your area they might have DWs or Makitas in stock.... past that all you can do is order one from someplace and pay for the extra shipping.

slaayer88- Don't want to just do it with your PC, huh? Even though aluminum isn't all that, uhm....fragile, I'd think twice about taking a machine you've never used before to somebody else's vehicle.

ROs can work fine on aluminum; that's what the Cyclo was originally designed for.

Accumulator, I used the PC last week and I was not very happy with how it went. I ended up using the mothers PB and that worked just fine. I could not quite get the mirror, that is why I wanted to switch methods. Rouge & a machine.

Yeah, it's tricky to get the right combo for it to yield good results. Can you believe my builder's guy used one (with 6" pads no less ) to polish a stainless steel countertop?!? Took him *forever* but it did turn out nice.

Glad you were able to get it done with the PB, taking it to that utmost level calls for getting all the variables just right.

The Milwaukee should work fine, and even though it is single speed... you can control the speed with the trigger... just dont pull it all the way!
