alum top valve cover...

patches

my engine compartment is in very good shape, firewall, wheel housing, front radiator support etc....all glissen.......
my only problem is the valve cover on top of the engine, and some of the connections connected to hoses etc have turned white with corrosion and are dirty, I'm afraid of using the hose, soap, water etc, is there a spray on that i can use that will dissolve that mess with little elbow grease?
so far here i've read about gunk, S100 total cycle cleaner, poor boy spray and wipe, aero space simple green, and megs vinyl and dash board spray.

i want to make it as clinical as possible.........if possible :innocent:

A good scrubbing with Simple Green Aero and a nice stiff brush (brass maybe) will work. Be sure to follow with a few coats of engine paint (clear unless you want a color) to stave off more corrosion.

VHT is the right stuff to use. The wrinkle coating is the finish you'll probably be looking for, it's the same look as the factory finish on Ferarri valve covers (to give you a mental picture of the finished product).

If you go to the Simple Green Website you can get a sample 32 oz bottle (you know, a sample size :) ). Other than that I'm not sure where to get it, it's strong enough that I haven't run out yet.
