Alternatives for washing microfibers

After doing the Dawn soak on my dirty microfibers and foam pads, I'm thinking about washing them in the machine using NXT wash as a liquid detergent. I just keep forgetting to buy liquid detergent, and my wife uses the powder type. Have any of you guys tried this ?
 
Haven't tried it, but I'd be concerned about 1: NXT may foam too much for a washing machine, and 2: NXT shouldn't work very well on the wax residues, as if it did, that would mean that it would also likely be taking the wax off the car each time you washed it.

I'd try an APC, if I got really desperate.

Let us know if you try it/how well it works.
 
The Dawn soak will help remove a lot of products. I now use it before washing my mf or pads. I have read that a lot of folks use Murphy's Oil Soap, but I keep forgetting to buy some to try it.

I was using All Free & Clear in my washing machine, but now use Pinnacle Micro Rejevenator or Sonus Der Wunder Wasche normally.


***Edit*** NXT wash may foam up as much as dish soap...if you've ever tried using Dawn for laundry detergent like I did once when I was much younger you know how bad that can be. :LOLOL
 
I use woolite, on the gentle cycle.
I don't think NXT would be a good choice, many areas require low suddsing (sp) detergents, and I don't think NXT fits that category :lol

I've read that its not a good idea. Its possible for the power to not dissolve fully and then it could clog the microfiber or potentially scratch. I've never used powder before this is just what I've read in the past...
 
I soak in Dawn
Rinse in washing machine then wash in All Free and Clear.
I have also used Micro Restore and didn't see any difference than when I use All.
NXT will probably not remove the wax and oil residue.
FWIW ... I have softened water.

Damn, well I've washed my MF's once with regular powder. I think next time I'll hand wash with a liquid detergent, then maybe drop them into the washing machine for a good rinse
 
Never use powders as they might not break down completely.
I usually just pre-soak them in the machine for a few hours, depending on how dirty they are, then drain the water and refill then wash in a long cycle with extra rinse....repeat if water is still showing dirt or soap during last rinse cycle.
 
Being in Property Management, I can tell you DO NOT USE ANY OTHER SOAP IN YOUR WASHER. If you do, you will have a mess on your hands.
 
If for the time being, you only have Dawn, might just be best to wash them with it by hand, I had to do a few times, not only mfs but good ol' terries, came out ok but I had to do A LOT of wringing by hand and talk about pruny fingers.
 
I found a bottle of Murphy's Oil Soap. Someone posted this can be used as a liquid detergent in the washing machine, however, the label does'nt give a mixture amount. Does anyone know how much to use ? The water level will be on low which I would guess to be appx. 5 gallons.

I guess I didn't explain the Murphy's Oil Soap very well. Sorry.

A number of people use it as a soak to remove product from PC pads.

I don't think it would work very well in the washing maching though.

There are several really good Microfibers detergents out there right now...I have tried both and I am very happy with them

I have used oxi clean and vinegar in the rinse cycle...cant take credit for it Sean put me on....

Been working out fine.....got to get that microfiber wash to try...
