alternative uses for coatings?

I know people have coated their phones, nav units, etc but I'm wondering if anyone has used them for protecting something unconventional, like a garage door.

Got a call from my mom yesterday. She was upset that someone had put graffiti on her garage door. Her garage faces a lane in the back of the house and it went unnoticed for a couple days. She tried various cleaners but nothing worked.

Since nothing is supposed to stick to OC, do you think it would be worth coating her newly painted door? It's a single car garage so less than a tube should do it. I know the stuff is not a force shield but if it makes it easier to remove spraypaint should the door get defaced again, then it would be worth it.

Also, should I use melamine paint so it dries extra hard? I'm worried if it isn't a smooth surface then it will just suck up the coating like a sponge.

thoughts and suggestions are welcome

You can put a coat of sealant or wax on the door, but that's not going to keep spray paint from sticking to it again.

I don't think a sealant would prevent new paint from curing. You're best bet is probably just to paint over it!

I would think if you intended to coat something to protect it from graffiti, a silicone based sealant would do the trick. :bigups It's worth a shot.
